where would that be located in the php.ini file? i've tried entering in error_reporting = E_STRICT to it but it hasn't helped.

i've made all the mentioned files writable, to no avail. would it be a php.ini issue?

when you say the configuration file, where exactly is that? on the checklist it mentioned changing the configuration file to 777 permissions, so i turned configuration.php-dist into configuration.php and changed it's permissions. Is that right?

I seem to be having a lot of issues installing this script. I can't seem to find installation documentation other than the standard Joomla 1.5 guide. Also I don't know whether or not to install the sample data. If you could point me in the right direction, it would be much appreciated.
