About randidiot

  1. Stick to Bitdefender or kaspersky for server security, uninstall every program from the server that isn't a role and run the server COMPLETELY blank, disable internal security, and slowly bring features online to you narrow the issue down, replace cable from server and check that your swtiches are running STP, a user may be accidentally pluging a Eth back onto itself, causing the switch to flood, next time the server does it, logon and do \\servername\share if your able to access the share via the server name then the share is working, DO NOT USE \\LOCALHOST this bypasses alot of things, if your able to access the share locally then the server is working CORRECTY, and you must track back from the ethernet controller to the swtiches.
  2. ShadowProtect has a backup feature to not include free space, it is the best backup solution used by big name companys, it also has the Option to convert your VSS copyed installion into a VHD, makes moving installions from server to server, am able to restore a 1tb backup within 20 minutes.
  3. You have a permission problem, Firstly make the desktop redirection folder again and give full control to everyone, then try ? how far did you get this time Also add gpresult /h \\server\folder\file.html to the Logon script, NOW is the Policy being applied but throwing an error or is it not even being applied if you can see the gpresult and it is saying the folder redirection has applied but isnt working you have a permission issue Folder redirection can be buggy with permissions, Can you manually navigate to the folder redirection from the affected users ? The Event ID 502 you mentioned could be caused by missing incomplete information in subkeys of the following registry location: HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FolderDescriptions You can export and import the registry from a working machine to solve this issue. Note: Before you do this, please backup the registry key firstly.\ Also Check your advanced share permissions and make sure EVERYONE has full control, then add the read only within the normal sharing area.
  4. Btw there is a Group Policy to remove local accounts after x days.
  5. Disable Slow link, Enable Control How Group Policy Is Applied At Logon Make folder redirection at the Root Share and when redirecting desktops make them READ ONLY.
