Hello,
Looking for some advise on SQL versions for running the Sims database.
We currently run the Sims database in MS SQL 2008 express. One lesson monitor query quite often causes Sims to crash on the workstaion displaying a sims error dialog message of
The database query timed out : SIMS.Entities.DatabaseExceptionTimeout
When I look at SQL server Management Studio the query puts the CPU up to 25% (express can only use 1 of the 4 cores the server has right?) and stays there till it completes or times out.
So my question is should buying SQL Standard allow Sims database to use more than 1 core? Should I have to do anything to the Sims database to make it use the extra cores (licencing from Capita) or will this happen automatically?
Any input appreciated
Jon
