i have had my fair share of work with thinstations, for example setting for for college. and i beleive i can help with the problems that your having with the configs. assuming that u have the equipment and files that you need; a base unit a unit acting as a server a cat5e cable with rj45 connecters (xover) and copies of; from thinstation.org default thinstation.conf.example (renamed to thinstation.conf.network) initrd pxelinux.0 vmlinuz a folder called "pxelinux.cfg" ( this is where the file "default" goes) and a TFTP/DHCP server programs such as "tftp32" first you will need to set up the machines so that the "server" is ready for tftp transfer. Setting up the TFTP32 program First you will need to install the program after downloading it. Then when the installation is complete and you have loaded the program, you will see 5 tabs at the top of the screen under the IP address, you will need to click the DHCP tab and then will in the appropriate fields; example Starting IP – 192.168.1.1 Size of pool – 5 Boot file – /pxeliunx.0 DNS / wins server IP – 192.168.0.1 Default IP – 192.168.0.1 Mask – 255.255.255.0 domain – WORKGROUP Then you will have to click on the settings tab at the bottom of the screen, when this box loads up then at the top of the box you will see a box named “base directory” in this you have to point the directory where the thin-station files are stored. E.g. “tftp\tftpboot\” And then tick the PXE compatibility box and press OK then press the long save button. then you will be able to boot the thinstation up so long as the cable is connected and the thinstation is pxe enabled. wait for new post for the "howto's" on configs huminahut;)
