  1. Unfortunately the problem will not go away. I tackled a couple of Hitachi reps at BETT a few years back about the mirror door problem and they grinned when I suggested it was a design fault! On the 200 series, the lamp goes off and the door closes about 90 - 120 seconds later once things have cooled down. We have 100 and 200 series projectors, about 50 in total. The 200 series have not presented any problems, whereas the 100 always present with the same problem - the mirror door! One of my AV Techs can change the door motor in about 25 minutes now.
  2. The site we purchase replacement door motors from has instructions about resetting the door and upgrading the firmware ( http://www.chsinteractive.co.uk/pdf_data/12030EK.pdf ) to delay the door closure, ala the 200 series. Has anyone managed to lay their hands on the firmware update?
  3. We have several ED-A100s and 101s installed in lecture rooms. Unfortunately it appears to be a design fault. I asked an Hitachi bod at BETT if it was a design fault and he grinned; he wouldn't openly confirm or deny it. We've had several occurances of the fault you describe. If you come across its successor model, the 200 series, you'll see that the door stays open until the projector cools down and then closes; the 100 series just closes. I can't tell you whether it is a simple fix as ours have been repaired by Hitachi under guarantee.
