    2FA RDS

One thing I've found with MFA and RDS is that RDS does not allow for entering text or email codes into a dialogue box. Nor does it provide any feedback if MFA fails - it just doesn't connect. Staff have had to manually set Authenticator App - Notifications as their default in my account.microsoft.com so they get a yes/no prompt when they try to log in. It's the single biggest reason for "I can't get onto the RDS" queries.
  2. Now we're back doing exams again I thought I'd add to this ever-growing thread. I been plagued with the 'Cannot identify AD version' error all day (mentioned on page 22 above, I think.). Pearson tech support site useless. You have to make sure the folder that the share for the MSIs is read/write enabled so the Exam Service installer can edit the Versions.XML file. if it cant then its blank and although the MSIs for Admin, Invigilator and Test Player will install with no issues the programs (admin, invigilator or test player) won't load because it cant see what version it's supposed to be running. Presumably if the app doesn't match the version in the XML then it will run the MSI to upgrade. Hope this helps anyone having a similar issue. (PS we've had similar issues with City & Guilds - their tech support more than happy to hide behind the 'it's something on your site' argument when in actual fact their console doesn't work with Edge, only Chrome.)
  3. I'll give that a try and get back, thanks.
  4. Hi Everyone - I have a few standalone laptops that have always run SIMS and I'm finding that every time there's a SIMS update, at least one of these laptops just will not either find a SIMS update (on the SOLUS Agent), or will find it and queue it but never update (Server has no record of update request in the logs). Today I decided to do a clean install, so uninstalled everything and deleted the folders from Program Files and Program Files (x86). From the server, SOLUS gets an Access Denied when trying to redeploy the agent (even after removing the laptop and manually adding it again via NAME or IP). I even create a new user account to authenticate with but nope. Tried USERNAME and LAPTOP\USERNAME. So I exported the SOLUS installer and ran the BAT file. It hangs, MSIEXEC is running but nothing happens - after 1 hour I End Task. So I ran the MSI (64 bit version for Win 7 Pro x64), entered the Server details found in the Batch file and correct location of the Key file. It crashes out after the UAC prompt, rolling back and giving no specific error. Event viewer suggests it has installed successfully with Error 1603. No further details. I have tried disabling all firewalls, uninstalling all AVs, Killing all tasks and stopping any essential services. Short of reinstalling Windows (I can run the manual installer with no problems on a clean Win 10 Pro x86 install) I'm stumped.
