Sourcing a replacement HP switch
TIOAOA replied to talksr's topic in Network and Classroom Management
I just ordered one of these for one of our feeder primaries to replace a 3com 10/100 switch http://www8.hp.com/uk/en/products/networking-switches/product-detail.html?oid=6783473 Works great -
Thanks @Joanne - I did try this but no joy

Anyone help point me in the right direction with regards to getting Office 2013 licenced from a 2008R2 KMS server. KMS will authenticate on Win7 installs no problem. I've installed the patch and office keys to the 2008 KMS server but its not licencing office. All my searching points me at fixes for Win7 and not office issues.

Not entirely sure but at this point i'll try anything, thanks

The plot thickens here. PC's freshly imaged 2 weeks ago are experiencing this issue again, slow performance, slow to respond, typing text in and there is a significant delay as it slowly appears on the screen. Any suggestions on what I could check as the cause for this type of behavior ?

I wondered the same - so I removed any updates from the last month on effected PCs and put them in a separate OU so they no longer receive WSUS updates, seems this morning thats not fixed it and the collection of PC's in this OU is getting larger I'm starting to wonder if we have gremlins

I would prefer to fix the issue with our Win 7 machines than change O/S. I just can't put my finger on what the issue is. I'm seeing this on i5's with 8GB of RAM purchased less than a year ago so don't think its a hardware problem.

Seeing similar issues here over the past week, all the usual things checked, AV, Malware etc and all seems clear. I'm left scratching my head. I'm at a loss what to do next, don't really fancy re-prepping hundreds of PC's

Any other suggestions apart from Hills ? They are out of stock till the end of Apr. Trying to use what little of my budget I have left up before it vanishes in 2 weeks

I'm looking to move away from the authority and put in new Internet connection, with that in mind I'd be interested to get some information from people using GAFE heavily within their school. What speed connection do you have ? How many users are on that connection ? And do you find GAFE works without any issues or do you long for a faster line. I don't think I can afford a leased line solution but am worried its what I would need to have 200 users all editing Google Docs at the same time. Any info / advice would be great. P.S. If one more person asks me if I had a good week off I may just explode.

I'm after something with a bit more kick than your standard bottle of redex

OK Guys - help me out , as I'm sure it was ion a random thread here I read it. Completely un IT related I know but I swear we have talked about it before I'm after something to clean the cobwebs out of my diesel engine, some fuel additive that will give the whole thing including the injectors a good clean. Any suggestions

A reasonably priced camera / video camera that I can record our Christmas show with. I just want to be able to stick 2 or 3 on tripods around the hall - point click and leave running for an hour and a half. I'm sure there is another thread like this but my search skills are lacking today. By the power of Edugeek - go...

TIOAOA replied to edutech4schools's topic in Hardware
@edutech4schools I've a spare Unifi AP Long range sat on my desk, no power supply thou. Reverse situation - we used to have some mobile clasrooms about 50m from our main building, worked great for us. Yours if you want to try it out and pay the postage / collect(where you based) -
I've used both Treesize (the free version) and windirstat but I'm ideally looking for something that will produce a report for me so I can name and shame the culprits. I'll take a look at Treesize Pro now thanks @Steve21

Hi All I'm looking for a piece of software that can do a bit of forensics on my file server and locate all those files that shouldn't be there. I'd like to locate music files - ripped / downloaded dvd's that type of thing. 2 weeks before we break for xmas I have no doubt there are films and xmas music all over user areas. Ideally free but I don't mind spending a small amount Any suggestions ?

@jinnantonnixx Do you get a good price for that? When I looked into it disconnecting the phone made my monthly cost rise

Unusually high number of vacancies for this time of year?
TIOAOA replied to speckytecky's topic in General Chat
I for one would like to thankyou @elsiegee40 It's nice to know whats out there If there was anything I could do to take some of the leg work out of it for you just ask -
Seems like this is happening more frequently I swear it was only 2 months ago when they did exactly the same. You ring them up to complain and they put the blame on Sky or BT. I told them it was unacceptable and managed to get a discount but only till the new year when no doubt the cost of my package will rocket up. But what are the alternatives they have us over a barrell

I'm on the lookout for something similar - if I can ask where did you buy from and what did it set you back - save me doing the leg work.
