  1. Deffo the power supply I'm afraid.
  2. Thanks for all the replies, but one of our SIMS support team has solved it (well put a workaround in place) Logged into FMS, renamed the dodgy/broken accounts, then created new users with the original name. Everything seems to be working OK, fingers crossed.
  3. Im sure SpeckyTecky mentions only 2 PC's. Unless there are plans to expand greatly surely this sort of setup is way to much, the management of the server alone maybe too much for a small school to handle. Im not saying it's the wrong way to go by the way, I just wonder why you would recommend a server for just 2 PCs to run SIMS.
  4. A server? For just one workstation? I would say thats a little overkill, 10 machines will happily run in a workgroup. I would suggest 2 x Dell Optiplex 740's OR 755's. We use the AMD 4400 processor and have 2Gb of memory. We used to use Travans but now give each school 2 x Freecom External hard drives (nice quick backups) and very easy to restore from and only £50 each.
  5. Just out of interest Jo is it connected via the network interface or is it shared from a PC's USB port?
  6. Had this when printing to an HP Colour Laserjet via the network, our SIMS team tried loads of things but eventually I had to install it locally. Have not had a problem since.
  7. Hi My very first post, so I look forward to talking to you guys or gals. We have a school who have been using FMS.net, on Monday there PC crashed with BSOD (hardware issue we believe). We now have a brand new PC for them and everything has been reinstalled, SIMS.net is working fine but FMS is not, we cannont login using the original users. Now we think that maybe this is because the data was not dettached properly obviously because it just died. So, has anyone got any experience of this we just want to get the origianl users logging in again. By the way I look after the techie side of things in our LEA and I don't have a clue when it comes to SIMS & FMS, I am posting here in hope. Cheers Peeps. Martin
