Hi Vikpaw, thanks, it's just that I've created my own macros in SIMS reports, and have never been able to view the template or the macro code from within SIMS. Could you show me a screen shot of how to do it?

Hi All I'm tryingto teach myself more about macros by looking at the macros that other people havewritten in SIMS reports. A few months ago I found out that you can view the 'hidden' macros in SIMS Report definition files by renaming the file from .RptDef to .zip, then extracting the zipped up file to reveal the excel file containing the macro. However whenI try to perform the step extracting the excel file from the zip file I get thefollowing error message. I don’tunderstand this error message - cananyone help? It does ‘extract’ an excel file but it has a size of 0 Kb…

Hi I hope someone can help! I needed to edit a complex (to me) SIMS report that I'd designed, that uses a macro to convert the output to a pivot table in Excel. So as not to mess anything up, I "saved as" the report to a different name before I changed ANYTHING. So then I did a little bit of messing around and then decided to run the original, unadulterated, SIMS report. It came up with the error message " Unable to load ExcelList.xls" And did the same for other similar reports that I haven't even opened today. Can anyone suggest what I might have done to cause this, or how I could investigate it? Next time the Head of Year wants to run this report, he's not going to be able to and I'd rather learn and fix what's wrong rather than rebuild the original report (and all the others that are no longer working!) Hi I'm in the process of setting up tracking grids to use as Transition Matrices for our KS3 pupils. I was hoping that once I had set them up (I am the administrator) then they would be available for other staff to view, much as marksheets are available for them to view once I've set them up. I discovered to my dismay that this doesn't seem to be the case - if a member of staff logs onto SIMS they can see the tracking grid templates but not the grids that I've set up. Does anyone know anything about this? Also, does anyone know how to make Tracking grids more user friendly from WITHIN SIMS eg. adding a key for colours that I've put on the template? I can do this in EXcel but it's very time consuming. I'm trying to learn how to automate the procedure using a macro but I'm not there yet!!

Thank you Ecclesbury and Tombry, so in 2016 grades will still be reported as A*-G but have different point score values? I've probably read the answer somewhere already but my head will only retain a little at each sitting! Must read the Progress 8 technical stuff all over again!

Hi, I have set up new gradeset, please can anyone advise on how to set up a marksheet to copy / convert the A*-G grades into the 1 - 8 grades?

Good idea about setting up new gradeset. Excuse my ignorance but how would you copy & paste grades that use a gradeset A*-G with values 58-16 into an aspect with a gradeset 1-8 with values 1-8? There must be a logical sequence with intermediate steps but I'm getting into a tangled headache thinking about it. Oh, just looked at tombry's aspects & gradeset - use A*-G, not 8-1. OK, can do that! Thanks

Hi I'm new to this forum but was searching for info about KS2 stuff and stumbled across this gem: HGfL: Teaching & Learning: Assessment: Attainment Data There I found spreadsheets to convert marks data obtained from K2Success into sublevels, APS etc etc. It looks like there's loads more useful stuff there too.
