Signed up to this in March and there were some alarm bells ringing then with our Business Manager as they wanted full payment up front but we were told buy it anyway as "the school needs this"!!!!!

Doh I am an idiot. First time round I had put the DG of each individual vlan in the smoothwall route, second time I had put the smoothwall LAN IP as the DG and now it's correct with the DG of the VLAN that the smoothwall is in as you said. Can now ping from all the vlans will have to wait until tomorrow before checking the Internet. Thanks for putting me on the right track.

Hi FN-GM, Thanks for the info. I have added the routes you suggest into Smoothwall but I am still unable to ping the Internet. When I add the routes you suggest I am unable to ping the smoothwall LAN IP from any of the VLANS but ehen I disable these routes I can ping it again. Any ideas? Thanks

Hi, I wonder if someone could shed some light on an issue I am having? I am planning on moving from a flat network to VLANs this summer. I have set up several vlans all connected to a 2920 switch which is acting as the core switch. All clients on each VLAN are able to ping each other using the switch as their default gateway so routing is working. I also want to put the smoothwall in its own vlan which I have tested this morning however I cannot ping the Internet from any of the VLANS. I have set a default route in the switch of 0.0.0.0/0 10.10.10.2 (the lan IP of the smoothwall) which I can ping however I cannot ping the Internet. The smoothwall is connected to the Internet as I can ping the Internet from the WAN port on the smoothwall. This is a brand new smoothwall out of the box. I can also ping and connect to the web interface on the Smoothwall from any of the VLANS as I have patched it to the latest release. The LAN NIC of the smoothwall is connected to an untagged port in the relevant vlan and has the VLAN IP address of the 2920 as it's default gateway. Any ideas would be appreciated.

MX records have been set at 1&1 for the sub domain. When I send to mydomain.co.uk from outside the school I get sender address rejected You're not in mydomain.co.uk. But I can send from an external address to another external address. I think it is something to do with our exchange server.

I am looking at setting up Google apps for student use and would like them to have Gmail addresses rather than exchange mailboxes. I have setup Google apps and our domain has been verified. Ideally I would like staff to continue using exchange mailboxes and students to use Gmail. I have set up a sub domain in google apps student.mydomain .co.uk and this works when I email from outside the network to an email address outside of our local domain. I cannot send email from inside the domain to a student.mydomain.co.uk email address. And the studentmydomain.co.uk address cannot email an internal address at mydomain.co.uk Is it possible to set it up like this and if so how do I get internal email addresses to send mail to the student.mydomain.co.uk gmail addresses and vice versa? Any help would be greatly received. Thanks Jonathan

Iris have provided an on-site NAS box running it's own app and this stores all the videos and automatically uploads them to the IRIS servers. It's a much better solution than the original which required you to store the videos on your servers and then upload them and there was no auto delete of the videos once uploaded. It seems to be a much better system but ours doesn't get much use so it hasn't been tested to destruction.

Hi, We are currently looking into purchasing some tablet/Ipads for class use. I have read many posts regarding the management (or lack of) of these various devices and the pros and cons. Initially I think we will look at a bank of 15 or so which will be bookable by anyone. I have looked at Meraki MDM and this seems to favour the IPAD over Android devices. Does anyone have any recommendations for an Android device manager which will allow me to: Lock them down Push apps to them Reimage them Is there anyone in the West Yorkshire area that already use Tablets/IPADS with some kind of management software that wouldn't mind a visit to showcase their methods? Hi guys, Capita have confirmed to me that my school have purchased IEP writer on a perpetual license in 2006 but now want to charge me £50 for a replacement disc. I have never seen the disc since I started in 2009 so would anyone be able to do me a huge favour and either loan me a disc or copy one for me? Many Thanks
