Staff and Students on the same Domain Server???
eskIT replied to eskIT's topic in Windows Server 2008 R2
Thanks all for your suggestions. I am using Account Management Spreadsheet for the creation of accounts. One more question, who uses roaming profiles with the students? If so where do you keep the profiles? Not sure if i should have a dedicated server just for STudent profiles, away from Staff documents/shares etc. -

When you say secured correctly? Do you mean by having them in separate OUs and controlling Group Permissions? -
Hi there, I currently have a setup where we have 2 separate domain servers. 1 for staff without the use of roaming profiles and 1 for students with the use of roaming profiles. Just wanted to find out the standard practice across schools etc. Our student domain is a mess and want to build a new server but if i can securely migrate them onto the staff DC then that would be easier but not sure if it is best practice? Any info would be beneficial.

Thanks!! Will look into this. We are trying to achieve the same thing with teachers having a central media server that they stream their videos/music from

Thanks for the suggestions guys. Id like to use this between 2 departments so will not be able to install just on My PC. I have tried installing mysql on the server but will not allow me to create new database using the command line syntax CREATE DATABASE. Where am i going wrong? Webman im not a pro at MSSQL but i assume just installing SQL Express would give you all required. CANT WAIT TO USE YOU APP!! Its going to save us alot of hassle

Thanks for clearing that up Will get MYSQL on my server.... It wont have any implications on MSSQL will it?

* I have created the following path: C:\inetpub\wwwroot\printmaster and extracted the content of the .zip file downloaded. * C:\inetpub\wwwroot\printmaster already has the Session folder created and readonly access removed Now i need to import the .sql content but doing this in SQL2012 gives errors.
