About ITAandE

  1. I've been bitten a few times in the past when I've rebuilt a machine and the person I've helped has asked for something back I've not backed up. So I started taking images of the machines and that situation has happened since. I'll carry on using Ghost if there isn't anything out there as easy to use
  2. A great suggestion and one similar to what happens in the day job but i'm actually talking about out of the office and at home, or a relative's house, or a mate's house. So for all the stuff on the side I need a portable solution. Currently I have a ghost pen stick with ghost explore on it too, a portable hard drive and a laptop.
  3. I'm currently using the old tried and trusted Ghost to backup machines to an image before I flatten them and rebuild them and use Ghost Explorer to pull the data out of the image and back on to the machine. It works but I'm finding Ghost Explorer so slow. What would you use in the same situation? Something like an Acronis product? I'll be interested to hear what's good and what isn't Thanks in advance
  4. Its odd because I don't have the disconnect over time issue. The drive goes to sleep but it always comes back. Mine disappears only if lots of little files are written to it. I can right large files to it all day but not small ones. Very odd. I've had a hunt around the net but cannot find anyone with the same issue so I figure I am using a rare combination of SATA Dock, Hard Disks and OS. Oh well, I will put up with it until a miracle happens and the driver is updated. Thanks for answering Trapper
  5. I have a strange one. I have Windows 8.1 Pro installed and a USB 3 Icy Box SATA Dock with a Western Digital 2TB drive in it. When I copy files to it the drive disappears and comes back. After a few of those occurrences the ASMedia USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller - 0096 (Microsoft) has to be disabled and re-enabled to get the disk back online. In the system event log I get the following entries: Event ID 140 Source Ntfs (Microsoft-Windows-Ntfs)The system failed to flush data to the transaction log. Corruption may occur in VolumeId: F:, DeviceName: \Device\HarddiskVolume316. (A device which does not exist was specified.) Event ID 51 Source disk An error was detected on device \Device\Harddisk2\DR315 during a paging operation. Anyone got any bright ideas?
  6. You are all as stumped as i am then I'll probably leave it and use IE9 until i can get round to rebuilding the machine
  7. The plot thickens. I am unable to remove IE9 either. I get a Windows Update message saying an error has occurred and not all of the updates were successfully uninstalled. The following is put in to the application event log: Fault bucket 3792607367, type 5 Event Name: WindowsWcpOtherFailure3 Response: Not available Cab Id: 0 Problem signature: P1: 6.1.7601 P2: 8. Hi All, I have a nagging issue where i can't get IE10 to install on a Windows 7 Pro 64 Bit PC that has an up to date version of IE 9 installed. I have downloaded the IE10 installer (42.2mb) but when i run it i get told it can't finish and it leaves the following in the application event logs: Event ID: 1001 Fault bucket 3498533436, type 5 Event Name: CbsPackageServicingFailure2 Response: Not available Cab Id: 0 Problem signature: P1: 6.1.7601.17592 P2: Microsoft-Windows-InternetExplorer-Package-TopLevel P3: 10.2.9200.16521 P4: amd64 P5: unknown P6: 80070002 P7: Stage P8: Resolved P9: Installed P10: DISM Package Manager Provider Attached files: C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CbsPersist_20130615024802.cab C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CbsPersist_20130711185356.cab C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CbsPersist_20130816142016.cab C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CbsPersist_20130820173806.cab C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CbsPersist_20130830103012.cab C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log C:\Windows\servicing\Sessions\Sessions.xml C:\Windows\winsxs\poqexec.log C:\Windows\inf\setupapi.dev.log These files may be available here: C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\WER\ReportArchive\Critical_6.1.7601.17592_d59ecdace885f5fd8fb6a570c3c6ee1c3f6f5b85_07191899 Analysis symbol: Rechecking for solution: 0 Report Id: 16c16d01-13fe-11e3-94b8-c860009fc245 and: Fault bucket , type 0 Event Name: CbsPackageServicingFailure2 Response: Not available Cab Id: 0 Problem signature: P1: 6.1.7601.17592 P2: Microsoft-Windows-InternetExplorer-Package-TopLevel P3: 10.2.9200.16521 P4: amd64 P5: unknown P6: 80070002 P7: Stage P8: Resolved P9: Installed P10: DISM Package Manager Provider Attached files: C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CbsPersist_20130615024802.cab C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CbsPersist_20130711185356.cab C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CbsPersist_20130816142016.cab C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CbsPersist_20130820173806.cab C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CbsPersist_20130830103012.cab C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log C:\Windows\servicing\Sessions\Sessions.xml C:\Windows\winsxs\poqexec.log C:\Windows\inf\setupapi.dev.log These files may be available here: Analysis symbol: Rechecking for solution: 0 Report Id: 16c16d01-13fe-11e3-94b8-c860009fc245 Report Status: 0 and: Fault bucket , type 0 Event Name: CbsPackageServicingFailure2 Response: Not available Cab Id: 0 Problem signature: P1: 6.1.7601.17592 P2: Microsoft-Windows-InternetExplorer-Package-TopLevel P3: 10.2.9200.16521 P4: amd64 P5: unknown P6: 80070002 P7: Stage P8: Resolved P9: Installed P10: DISM Package Manager Provider Attached files: C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CbsPersist_20130615024802.cab C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CbsPersist_20130711185356.cab C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CbsPersist_20130816142016.cab C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CbsPersist_20130820173806.cab C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CbsPersist_20130830103012.cab C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log C:\Windows\servicing\Sessions\Sessions.xml C:\Windows\winsxs\poqexec.log C:\Windows\inf\setupapi.dev.log These files may be available here: C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\WER\ReportQueue\Critical_6.1.7601.17592_d59ecdace885f5fd8fb6a570c3c6ee1c3f6f5b85_cab_24a50171 Analysis symbol: Rechecking for solution: 0 Report Id: 16c16d01-13fe-11e3-94b8-c860009fc245 Report Status: 4 Anyone got any ideas?
