I'm sorry people for perhaps sounding the fanboy here, but it's a side that must be said. Has anyone heard of Beta software? To totally slag and insult Safari is rather inappropriate, unfair and unstructured. Yes it has a lot of problems, I've been having a lot myself, but I understand that it is still Beta software and it is out in this state for the problems to be found in the mass market. Please make your arguements fair and just. Despite my obvious Apple-ness and love of them (I'll admit it), I still work primarily with Windows machines and have to support them everyday. When IE7 beta was out and when I played around with Vista Betas, yes I thought much about their faults, but always knew that they were betas and that things would improve, that it was not my place to expect it to be good in beta form and to slag it off unfairly, despite how easy it would seem for me to "score one for the team" against Windows etc. Personally, I've found that the recent updates to Safari for Windows have improved it greatly for me, and expect it to be even better when it is out of Beta form. In the mean time, if you are having problems, don't use it! Like a lot of you aren't. That's fine. My primary Windows browser is still Firefox, so I'm still not completely happy with Safari for Windows, but Safari is my primary Mac browser as it's far far far superior on that platform for me from experience, so I'm not going to sit here and praise Safari for Windows and moan at you all for not using it. It is in an unstable form, granted, my point here is could people please make their arguements slightly more structured and balanced instead of turning things into a brawl. Thanks

It's a nickname given to me from my uni mates. They already had a few friends called Andy from back home so it was confusing. Being a big Apple user and all things "i" they put 2 and 2 together and came up with the rather appropriate "iAndy"!

I have a maxed out 12" PowerBook. 1.5GHz. 1.25Gb RAM. 100Gb HDD. Superb machine! Got it when Tiger became installed as standard. Congrats on your purchase!! I originally got the FrontRow hack as soon as it came out on the Internet about a week after Apple released it! It was very buggy. The source was from digg.com. I've just done a quick search on digg.com again and come up with a superb site that seems to make FrontRow so much easier to hack...infact it uses Apple's own FrontRow 1.0.1 update download to install it...so it's almost near perfect! I've given it a go and it works like a charm!...much better than the original hack I had. That's half my point! It's not that functional! It's still a great fun program to use...can be fully controlled via keyboard, and I think Salling Clicker, so all is not totally lost. As long as you have a little patience with it if it isn't the proper official version that you get with iMacs and MacBook Pros I have the Apple Remote that I use with the Universal iPod dock...unfortunately the dock doesn't double as an IR for my PowerBook so my PowerBook cannot pick up the IR from the remote.

It's not free...but can get educational discounts. I use Screenography...it does the job!

I had the FrontRow hack working on my PowerBook. It's pretty good, apart from the fact that it is very buggy. Obviously no remote control. Hoping to get Salling Clicker working with it, that would be superb! If it wasn't for the lack of any decent speed and all the bugs, I'd be constantly using it...just for the effects!...unfortunately the bugs (it is an unofficial hack after all) just make me not want it. Mind you, it's been a while, maybe the latest hack versions are much better and bug free! It's a superb piece of software though!...my friend has a new Intel Core Duo iMac, FrontRow is just superb!

To answer the iPod format question...if you plug it into your Mac it should detect it is Windows format and ask you if you want to format it when iTunes opens. If not use iPod Updater...that will do it.
