  1. Ok this may sound a little long winded...... I work for a company and they have a server with Windows 2000 on, All the base stations are running windows xp (about 15 machines). We use a program to add all our works etc which was created by a chap on VB5 or 6. Now ive been telling them to upgrade and the IT guy (outside contractor, old boy) keeps putting it off,Ive looked into the software and it won't work with win 7 or 8. He wants to set up a new server and base units running Linux and I guess a Virtual pc to run his software. What I need to know is what would be a good server?(a micro server??)and running what? We currently back up to usb every day, could we do it from a new server to the cloud? I then need some new base stations with either win 7 or 8 but the stumbling block is the software that this chap created.....we could do with some new software that can do it,can that be upgraded by someone else?or would it be cheaper for something new? Thanks in advance.
