That might be something ill look at, do you have the script for startup and shutdown that can be added to the GPO? We have a logon.bat script that runs but like you have we need computers to boot up at something like 7am and shutdown around 6pm. Thanks for your reply

We are looking for a piece of software that can control the start-up and shutdown of PCs via Active Directory. We want to be able to control the times of when they start-up and shutdown and the days that they do it on. We want some kind of Management console or user interface for other technicians to over ride any settings. We would be looking to install this onto our servers. Does anyone know of any software like this on the market? We know there is some group policy settings and there are scripts that can do this but we are looking for a piece of software with an interface.

I have done that before but for some reason the insert object still somehow executed the word.exe, Ill try again tomorrow. Thanks for all your help

We've put a GPO in place that stops the exe from launching however the insert object always over rides it. Is there a way to disable that feature? Thanks

The computers are used for normal lessons as well as exams therefore removing or making changes to office isn't practical.

Hi, We are setting up exam profiles and we are using Wordpad instead of MSoffice as it doesn't have spell checker or anything however there is an option in wordpad that says "insert object" and this allows you to insert MSWord objects into the document and therefore opens word. Is there anyway of disabling this feature or button for a OU or security group? Thanks
