Dropping Site to Site VPN - Unifi & Sonicwall
abillybob replied to abillybob's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
Thanks for all your insights with this. Found out the problem from the Ubiquiti forums but thought I'd post here as it seems like a common occurance. Basically IKEv1 is perfectly fine on UXG-Pro's. IKEv2 and v1 is ok on USG-Pro's. Seems it's just the newer UXG's that's having problems. Hopefully will be fixed in time with a Firmware update. -
Thank you all

Hi All, I need some free preferably (Trial is fine) ping software that we can run from a laptop over the weekend. I then just need a report to show me times and how long for something has dropped. I've looked around online but struggling to find anything decent, anything you guys use? I should note that I need to ping two IP's simutaneously Thanks All!

Sonicwall, can't ping new photocopiers
abillybob replied to abillybob's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
Thanks all, my eyes where decieving me and my brain hadn't woke up! The contractors set the gate way to 192.167.*.254 and ours is 192.168.*.254. I feel like an idiot was looking around for ages! -
Hi All, Bit confused with this one. So we've had some contractors go out to the care homes and replace a photocopier that was working fine with a newer model. They've copied the correct IP Settings and this is confirmed as I've checked it myself. I can ping the new Photocopier when on site but through the VPN I can't which is a problem as our Print Server connects to the photocopiers using this VPN. This is the case with all our Sonicwall sites. Anything that's using a Unifi Router is fine and goes through ok. Any help would be most appreciated, stuck in the middle of it all at the mo!

Dropping Site to Site VPN - Unifi & Sonicwall
abillybob replied to abillybob's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
Yeah, they're all using the same ISP although we just have standard BT FTTC in most of the homes and it was working previously when we had our Sonicwall to Sonicwall setup. Thank you I think so, difficult to catch though with it being on a different site. I've had the ISP monitor it but all they've seen is the connection drop when I've had to restart the router. I was thinking about just running a constant ping from one of the computers on site and seeing if it drops around the same time the VPN goes off. If anything else pops in to mind though please let me know! Thanks both -
Hello All, Having a major problem here that I can't seem to work out. We're a care home provider and all of our care homes connect back to our Head Office through means of a Site to Site VPN. It's a manual IPSec VPN and we're currently using the UXG-Pro's to do this. We have it setup the exact same way in other care homes and it's running fine. At the other end it's a Sonicwall box but as I say this is running fine across all our other homes with the same setup. A restart of the UXG-Pro seems to fix the VPN and it comes back online again. I have also tested and found there's nothing wrong with the client computers, network or internet. Seems I can ping the internet and even our Head Office public IP address but the VPN has just randomly dropped and won't come back online again until we restart the UXG-Pro. Any ideas?

WSUS Server Clean Up Wizard Crashes - Reset server node?
abillybob replied to abillybob's topic in Windows Server 2012
Cheers all those instructions seemed to help! Once I did the IIS thing I was able to do a server cleanup! I don't understand why these settings aren't the default when you install WSUS since it's even recommended by Microsoft... bit backwards to me!! Thank you all though that was a big help! -
WSUS Server Clean Up Wizard Crashes - Reset server node?
abillybob replied to abillybob's topic in Windows Server 2012
Cheers mate. I've tried doing that a couple of time hoping it will just go through but it never has. I have tried one by one multiple times but still causes an issue? What's the script is it expensive? Not sure if I've got another option unless someone knows anything else I can try? -
Got a problem with trying to clear out the cached updates from WSUS server. I have declined them all but upon running the Server Clean up Wizard I keep getting the below message? It runs for a bit and then as soon as it says deleting unsuded updated, it hangs and then crashes like this. Clicking reset server node makes it all come back up again but this happens every time I run it?

But surely as the IP is configured manually on the printer this wouldn't make a difference right as it's not relying on DHCP for it's IP?
-
It's a Cisco 3000 Series Layer 3 Switch. The printer isn't connected directly into this switch it's on another switch but rebooting the core switch brings it online. Ah ok well I have a new 9000 series switch to replace it soon which all the VLAN's have been configured new so I won't bother re-creating it on this switch. What would changing it to port-fast change? Thanks for your help mate!
-
Hi All We have this strange issue here where we have connected a printer to the network. It's on the correct VLAN and all the IP settings are sound although I can't get the stupid thing to ping. What seems to fix it is restarting our Core Layer 3 switch which then bring the printer up? This tends to only happen when a new printer is put onto that VLAN and once the switch has been restarted it's fine for the rest of it's life? Can anyone work out what would be causing this?

Excel won't save files... Read Only
abillybob replied to abillybob's topic in Windows Server 2008 R2
No I've checked unfortunately no other user has it open, good call about AV I'll have a look. -
Hello This is hurting my brain but for some reason intermittently staff will be working on the shared area that is mapped to them via GP and then it opens the file as read only? I have checked the permissions of the file and they have full control to the file under "Security" tab, I did see that the shared - advanced options - permissions, hadn't got their permissions in that. Then it seemed to be ok once I quit Excel and re-opened the file, it would then let me save. So I'm hoping this was the problem but unsure if it'll come back, has anyone seen this before? Thanks in advance!!

Figured it out, it was me being a tool! All the Vlan interfaces where shutdown.. I've just spent two hours wondering why this wasn't working... I'm off to have a McDonalds! Cheers @Norphy for your help though, most appreciated!

Cheers for helping mate, sorry haven't got back I have no internet when I'm testing. The SFP modules I'm using are just "Cisco" branded SFP module so I would have thought it would work plus the other switch was getting an uplink. I don't think it is the case that it's to do with speeds now, you're right the 1gbps modules should work fine and I have just eliminated that by trying to use a 10gbe switch port to this 10gbe switch so same speed but still can't ping it. It's probably something I've messed up in the config, it's supposed to be replacing our core switch so it does all the routing for each VLAN. All I've done is literally copy the config from the old core switch to this one using console and then tried to replace them but it hasn't seemed to of worked. I've never configured a core switch from new before so I'm probably doing something wrong although the configs are like for like when I perform a "show run" command so I'm not sure what I've done.
-
No, no. Both switches have 1gbe transceivers in them with just a cable hooked up. The ports on the 1gbe switch light up green and flash rapidly but the ports on the 10gbe switch light up orange and flash in a constant sequence, looking at what the port colours say is that amber flashing constantly in a pattern means it's a mismatch in speed.
-
Hi All Hopefully someone can help me. I just want to test a switch that I've configured on the network although when plugging in some compatible SFP modules it won't work. I presume it's because the switch I'm trying to plug in is 10Gbit and to test I need to be able to plug it into a 1Gbit port as a temporary measure. Does anyone know of a way to configure a port on a Cisco switch as 1GigabitEthernet rather than 10 or is there no way to do this? When running the 'Show Run' command it only specify's 10Gbit interfaces unlike some other Cisco switches that show two separate interfaces for 1Gbit and 10Gbit on the same port? The switch I'm trying to test is a Cisco 9500-40X-A if that helps! Thanks all

I meant local admin, I setup a separate local admin account on the PC she's on. I'm not setting up her username as a Local Administrator that would allow her to install what she wanted etc which isn't very secure. Sage isn't the issue it's Outlook that I'm stuck on, I'm 90% of the way there just need to figure out how I can stop Outlook prompting me for the password via O365 as it just comes up like this
-
So I've been able to make Sage Payroll run as administrator as well as Outlook under a new domain administrator I've called "Payrolladmin" I used the following in a shortcut "runas User:domainname\payrolladmin /savecred "PathtoOutlook and Sage". Problem is with Outlook, it obviously utilises mail profiles from payrolladmin user rather than the user that's logged in, no problem just tried setting it up again but then when typing in her O365 credentials it opens up the password box but it opens and it's just completely blank. I thought no problem I'll sign in as the payroll admin and set it up on there, which worked perfectly fine. Logged out and logged back in as the user but it still prompts me for the password on the standard user account but of course just shows a white screen without being able to type anything in! So at this point I have decided sage should be replaced with a similar 4 letter word instead and I'm about to pull the hair that's remaining on my head off! Please someone save me...
-
That's ok thank all for helping!! I'm really not impressed Sage 200 support I've never had experience with, they fob me off and say we need to get support from our re-seller which isn't great either so can't comment on that! Payroll support is terrible though... They've called their product Sage 50 CloudPayroll now to look like they're keeping up with other payroll software and to 'pretend' they're on the cloud, but nope they're still on-premise.
-
Hi All Not sure if anyone has had experience using this as I know it tends to be used in businesses rather than schools but I'm hoping there might be some of you that have experience with using Sage 50 Payroll. So we have the Database on a server, it's just an .mdb file that runs on shared area and the Sage 50 Payroll client points to this to receive it's data. Recently, like once a week we get a strange error message coming up saying the database needs to be repaired. We go to DBUtilities and click on our database as administrators and then run the repair which is just a button, it confirms it's repaired and then it work another week and we have to do the same thing! We are also having issues whereby sending out payslips to staff, some will get a bounce back email for some staff saying that the payslip couldn't be delivered but I can email their accounts from my work account just fine with no bounce back. I have spoken to Sage support who where particularly bad after waiting in a queue for 30 minutes on the phone. They have said to check permissions on the share the database resides on and to check local/appdata has full read/write permissions for all staff which they already do? Then he said both Sage 50 Payroll and Outlook need to be run as administrator otherwise you can get issues... I'm not sure why but when I questioned the chap he said "I'm not IT trained and can't help you any further" I'd of at least though the people on their support helpdesk would be IT trained So now I'm not sure what to do, I'm not really fond of setting up our AD users as administrators on each computer as I don't want them to be able to install things willy-nilly but apparently Sage won't take the case any further unless I can make Sage and Outlook run as admin? Do any of you guys know how I can make individual applications run as administrator, without having the user logged in as administrator? Thanks
