I've had an ongoing issue this year where student MacBooks randomly decide to ignore our managed preferences. Typically logging out will fix it, but sometimes the student will have to get me to log into the local admin account to run mcxrefresh. Occasionally, even this fails, and I just keep going through the loop of reboot, login, mcxrefresh, logout until it finally decides to work. Authentication continues to work fine thru the process. Any advice / pointers? Fwiw, our clients are on 10.8.2, server is 10.7.5, and it's an OD-only network. DNS is functioning as it should be, and our domain is .private.

Do people from the US still exist here? Whatever. In any case, I started this school year as a technology coordinator for a K-8 charter school. We do have an elementary level tech coordinator, but for higher-level stuff it's basically just me. The middle school I'm at daily has 1-to-1 MacBook Airs, so needless to say I'm engaged in a constant cat-and-mouse game. My first major project will be implementing a WAN between our two sites and uniting Active Directory at the elementary school with Open Directory at the middle school. Should be a fun time, and I'm sure I'll have plenty of questions for the Edugeek community along the way!
