Hi Intra, You need a hard drive with the MSM765 software already on it - there's no way of loading the software on to a blank drive. We purchased an MSM765 drive from eBay which had a version of the firmware on it. We also raised a support case with HPE as some networking kit has a lifetime warranty and they sent us a new drive under warranty! I have a collection of spare drives now so could send you one if you like? I could also try grabbing a hard drive image on Monday which you might be able to load on to a blank drive and then get the controller to boot? Might be worth trying HPE first - we got our drive next day from them! Alex.

A very helpful chap on Reddit has come to my rescue... I now have a large collection of firmware versions for HP MSM765 controllers - happy to share if anyone ever needs some!

Hello all! We're in the process of trying to resuscitate our HP MSM765 wireless controller following a hard drive failure. We've located a second hand drive from eBay but it's running an ancient version of the firmware and it won't update to the oldest firmware I have. Anyone have a copy of firmware version 5.7.5.0 or 6.2.1.1 for an MSM765 which I think will allow me to upgrade to the versions I have? I've got HP/HPE/Aruba/whatever they're called now support looking for some but I have a feeling they may come back and tell me where to go given the age of the kit! Many thanks in advance! Alex.

Hello! If you're using SIP phones, it's the phone that plays the dial tone and "call progress" tones - ringing, engaged, etc. To change what they sound like you need to edit the configuration for the phone - either via the web interface of the phone or via the config file the phone grabs when it boots - the method employed by the phone depends on the phone. The settings in the Asterisk configuration file refer to occasions when Asterisk generates the tones - predominantly if you are using a hardware card to provide connectivity to analogue phones. Otherwise, Asterisk just relays the status to the SIP phone (it's ringing, it's engaged) and the SIP phone makes whatever noise it sees fit. Hope this helps! Alex.
