We have started to experience issues with time on our network. The way I had it setup was for our 3 DC's to talk to an internet based NTP server and then automatically with no interferance the other servers and desktop PC's woulod all get there time from the DC's. The first question is, is this true? I have also been told that hyper-v can sync time to all of the virtual machines and then all you need to do is setup the host servers to access the internet NTP servers. I am not sure of the best route and if I need to tell all of the desktops on the network where to get there time from? Does anyone have any ideas on the best way to do this?

I have just this morning had a quote for equivalent IBM and HP servers. I was amazed to see that IBM came out cheaper. Now since my first day working in IT support (7 Years Ago) I have only ever worked with HP servers. There support is amazing and I could not find any reason to think about moving away until now. I will say both servers where with 4 hour response hardware support. Also the difference in price was just over £800.00 What I was looking for is if anyone has had and good or bad experiences with ether products. If they could share it here to try and get a sense of if I would like to change.

Our SIMS.net and SQL database are on the same Hyper-V Virtual Machine running Server 2008 R2. The VM for SIMS.net has 16GB RAM and 4CPUs this is due to everything being on the same server. We run SQL 2008 R2 Full copy as this is such a large database used by 130 people or more all day, everyday. The only other thing I will say is make sure SIMS.net is the only SQL database installed on that SQL instance. This is stipulated in the terms and conditions of having the SIMS.net application.
