Thank you Sted I have tried this screen saver thing & was not much success because as I said it use to lock it every 15 min when screen saver runs, I will look in to more see if I get success this time. I don't really have much knowledge of network in work place as I am replacing someone who walkaway HAPYY Days Thanks for your input though

Hi Guys Hoping I came to correct place I can basically search on internet and find solutions myself but I haven't got time as very sort notice I have e-safety audit coming I am newbie to server administration industries I had quick look in domain policy / security tools /etc. but when I start reading & digest all in my brain I initially forget what I was looking for, to much choice & now I am well confuse & lost. 1) Can somebody help I want to restrict access to internet / network (server 2003 domain environment DNS/DHCP etc.) at minute any one can come in pickup CAT5 cable and connect to PC/Laptop & they can easily access Internet How do I STOP This, Should ask log-in to network if this happens? 2) How to I lock user computers if they been inactive for say 15 min? I tried this by some GPO but then it locks it every 15 min no matter if they active or not? As I said I am running out of time (Plenty other things but I can work on those by my knowledge) only two days before we break-up for Christmas holiday I haven't got time to search internet otherwise I would have done & not posted this here. Hi Everyone I have research lots and try stuff but no luck so cansomeone please help me So far I was IT Technician and took over Network managersince last year, Haven’t had proper MCITP training so just messing about myselfwith stuff to learn, I know it’s not best way but hoping one day head will payto go for MCITP (By the way is this the best course do to if I want to benetwork manager with full capabilities on Microsoft server? Or CCNA?) Question 1: VPN Wanted to setup VPN access to school network, followed lotsof online resources etc, but no luck, All I get is remote server not available,was with member server with one NIC 1. Remote and routing access service has to besetup on primary domain controller or member server will work? 2. Whatever server I used either PDC or member doesit need two Network card? 3. Internet firewall been managed by local authoritycounty do i need to ask them for necessary ports I assume to open? Question 2: DNS At minute all school computers loginsto say: 123reg.co.uk (my primary domain/DNA Suffix) Now school website domain also called123reg.co.uk, so whenever I am trying to access school website in school networkit doesn’t work, obviously because DNS pointing to primary domain Is there any work around it? I try to teachmyself lot of stuff by just fiddling with it but many times I just get annoyedand give up. Hoping many of you been in same situation when boss don’t wantto spend money for training Any help appreciated Many Thanks

Hi Guys Not very good with server yet on learning stage, got new job as network manager from IT Technician in school I want to delete network shares which no longer exists e.g. see screen shot I can run net share delete etc but the thing is I got at least 300 warning entry in event viewer which is all do to with this Shares Is there any way I can use certain batch file if someone have knowledge to write it so it can delete all shares that no exists anymore? And then next time when I restart server it will not give me attack of errors in event viewer http://staticc2.cdngeek.net/images/icons/icon11.png PS: I had look in computer management - shares - they not there, whoever delete the folders must not remove share properly in past thank you

Hi All been new to forum I am hoping I am posting this on correct place if not forgive me. I am qualified IT Technician & Got network manager job in school as had lot experience closely working with network manager at past job. So I am developing myself even more here. Ok come to point. School has Wireless + Server 2003 I am making new reservation on DHCP with MAC address of iPhone or PC or any other wireless device I am assuming device should connect to wireless itself, and not ask me Security KEY for wireless I am sure it’s doable, had it in past job where I am goingwrong? It’s not working with my phone Any input will be appreciated. Thanks
