Can't find the give thanks button? So .. thankyou lol I've managed to put together a basic article on Silkysteps using this resource and hopefully it'll have a positive impact for my readers
-
This is an old thread sorry, but is there a newsletter sign up link somewhere ?

From a parental perspective BSF/PfS ultimately means removing the very real life career choices that students may consider because of their contact with, or knowledge of what their in house ICT service means & offers. I can't seriously believe anyone considering remotely outsourcing any 'how tos' or hand's on facilities from the future workforce and current workforce can think it will be a benefit. LEAs and Schools should be recieving the support they need to help them maintain what they have, to build on it and be proud of their provision rather than being asked to look elsewhere for answers they may later have no control over.
-
Thanks, that is an excellent read.

Does anyone know of any good objective articles on BSF/PfS that would give a comprehensive insight into the 'programme and make easy reading for outsiders/ those initially unaware of it's existance ? Thanks
-
Does anyone have a link (or document) to a flow chart detailing the organisational structure of BSF ? EDIT: sorted .. in the narrowest sense : )
-
No advice sorry .. just wanted to say that's the sort of flexibility that is so admirable.

Source That is an incredibly constructive thread in the happening Independant Schools inspectorate consultation may possibly be of interest if anyone wants to put forward ideas & thoughts on the proposals.
-
lol .. I'd like to think schools would be acting on behalf of everyone involved.
-
Thank you. Lack of funding is nothing new & it isn't that Schools won't get any money - they will meerly continue on the same footing as before ... albeit with staff & parents having gained a much greater insight. No one would argue the necessity for new build but at what expense does.

Grommit, those are two of the harsh realities faced by LA’s when presenting the documents and also by schools when looking into the proposals. Your *job title* rights will be governed by the employment laws & all. Your rights as a person are another matter. *Insert Personal Disclaimer !! I don’t know the ins & outs of any rights acts but do know if we acknowledge the Rights of Children, comparably we can do the same for adults. PDF deep/hotlinked with permission LA’s will want the right to provide their community with services & facilities that enhance the area and encourage growth. Schools will want the right to provide a safe environment that meets the legal requirements, supports parental choice and builds infrastructures that can help guide & develop independently minded and openly aware students through their school years. Parents will want the right for schools to provide educational opportunities, promoting their children’s personal development and learning skills for the future. The lack of an Opt out from the whole of the BSF programme doesn’t seem to uphold any of these core intentions.

There are a great many organisations involved. But no matter which way I look at it .. it still all boils down to a distinct feeling/inclination that there is an infringement of equality & rights. If that feeling is widespread it would be little wonder LAs have such a large task in organising participation.

It's not possible that they hold all the cards. The knock on effect impacts on everyone right throughout the system to Parents.

Broc thankyou. I have mulled around on this all day .. firstly, amazed that xx years of (almost) 24/7 browsing hasn't thrown an inkling of it to light !! and constant surprise at those working to benefit their area can consider & implement tying schools up in this way, financial incentives are one thing .. economic innovation, individuality, community productivty & much more is a very small part of another ! What's being done to help give Heads/Govenors/interested parties a viable choice in all of this ?
-
I am stunned. How on earth could decisions be made with such short sightedness.
-
Thank you ! That's me set for the day !! off the top of my head though .. is it possible to opt out of the BSF ICT Contract ?
-
Can someone please explain BSF ? This isn't posted in FFS lol but I'm personally interested in the good & bad. Thanks

Hi James, The website was a project I placed in the hands of OMS ltd Apart from a detailed brief I had little to do with the technical development of the site. I manage all content, upkeep and additional pages to the main site via a CMS. Sorry .. I have a much better grasp on technical things now & build very basic pages for different occasions/upgrade the forum software etc but was a complete beginner at that stage !!

Thanks for such a warm welcome
