About Ginger9997

  1. Hi guys, im having an issue with a bunch of users (40) who log on at 4PM, all of them are struggling to log on OR off taking upwards of 40 minutes. All the users (1000) get their profile and redirected documents from the same locations and seem to be fine however they are logging on from 8am onwards. Now i believe possibly that the server is maxing out its number of of sessions. I have perfmon running against it today and i can see i am averaging about 510 active server sessions. The question i have and what Google doesnt seem to be able to answer is what are the limits? I cant find any technet article to say the max is say 600 sessions so i have no idea if its running within its limits or not.
  2. Hi Michael, Thanks for the reply. Yes i have installed the RSAT tools and the central store and have begun creating new policies. My issues are mainly with for example me editing a policy created in 2003 using windows 7 and then Jo Blogs making another change to that same policy from 2003. Im worried the policies being updated from different versions could cause corruption or adverse effects.
  3. Hi Guys, I have a 2003 domain with XP clients and we have now been given the go ahead to role out windows 7 HOWEVER the DC's will remain on 2003 for a year. So heres my questions! I have created the central store and understand that which is all good however with a temporary mixed environment of XP and Windows 7 im concerned that admin staff will be working on W7 machines and updating old ADM's. If they were to do this would the ADM become an ADMX? Am i to expect it will create a few issues? With W7 admin staff and XP admin staff both working on templates will i likely get some corruption? Im just concerned that for example if i jump on an ADM and update say the server redirection is pointing to then the path will change (if its updated by W7 the location will default to \documents rather then \docs which its currently set to. Is there any other gotcha's i need to look out for? I have had problems finding decent articles relating to this! Thanks in advance!
  4. Thanks lads. So with my KMS in place and working fine theres really no need for VAMT. I thought they would have made a decent report for the KMS host!
  5. Hi guys, Im suffering from a little bit of confusion. I have put in KMS and its working fine and im using event viewer to make sure everything is running smoothly. No devices will have a MAK key. Now is there any advantage to me having VAMT running aswell? Can be used for reporting or is it just a different method of providing licensing? Thanks for your help!
