The SIMS export is just 2 xml files that can be encryped and sent weekly to the LEA, it'll be a ball ache for whoever has to do it though (usually IT!). Filtering and reporting is always the issue, I suppose you can just ask on the forums for suggestions.

Does your MIS send data back to the LEA (such as SIMS/ONE scenario)? If you do or send any sort of data back to the LEA securely through the current pipe then you'll have to consider how this can be done.

Does Meraki manage Ipads on multiple sites through the local wifi/lan? We've got 80 sites and couple of hundred wifi subnets.

I've had a look at the live demo from Meraki and would like to experiment with the MDM to see if it can be rolled out at our schools. Although all the Meraki info states its free I can't see how you create a new (non demo) network. Do I have to sign up again or is this not a free app?

I've just been looking at Merakis MDM offering and it is (alledgedly) free, even for networks not using their APs or switches. Does anyone have any experience of this system?

If you consider the payment as just another utility like gas, electric or phone then it's an easy decision to make. In 12 years I've never replaced a tyre, paid for servicing, bought road fund license or worried about repairs. It is stress free motoring. A good trick is too look for cars which retain their values. This reduces the monthly payment as means you can get a better car. example: Skoda Octavia - £20000 new after 3 years worth £8000 so you are financing £12k. Marcedes Benz 300E - £35000 new after 3 years worth £25000 so you are financing £10k. Those are not exact but you get the idea I've used PCP from garages and from agents, one of the best is lingscars.com. She was rejected from dragons Den and now sells £30m of cars a year. The website is a bit mad but prices and customer service are brilliant..

For those who have Aspen/Cloud hosted MIS are you using 2 factor authentication? Obviously a local server/client/LAN setup doesn't require this but accessing childrens details over http or https: certainly should.

Hi I'm trying to get Java onto a laptop running Ubuntu 12.10. I've installed openjdk7 and icedtea 7 plugin, the plugin enabled in Firefox. When going onto a website with a java app I get a message saying the Iced tea plugin is out of date. It will let me run once but I cant update the plugin. Anyone seen this before and got a solution?

How about spending the 32 billion (and likely to double if other infrastructure projects are anything to go by) on bringing back the regional railways that were cut after Beeching. Improve the core rail network and send freight up off peak times to regional distribution depots getting the freight off the main roads. Another fast route and expensive route into London is not what we all want. Yes London is important and contributes 8% of GDP but the rest of the country contributes 92%, this is the real area for growth. It's unlikely the bulk of the public will be able to afford tickets on HS2, it simply doesn't add up now. I goto see family in Surrey from my home in Newcastle, the training for 3 of us is £300 return, plus the hassle of getting a toddler across London for a connection, it takes 5 hours. Driving takes the same time and costs £100 for diesel.

Can anyone tell me how SIMS B2B file are used by LA's who do not use Capita ONE? Im thinking of Tribal and any of the others. The SIMS/ONE data transfer is seamless and works well, I was wondering if there's anything in the other systems that did the same thing or do the B2B files have to be transferred and imported manually.
