Okay Update. I have a machine that I originally installed the Munki tools on manually (by running the installer on the machine itself). It notifies fine, but the machines that I installed the tools on through ARD do not notify correctly. Any ideas what is missing to cause this issue?

Okay. I have recently gotten Munki up and running and love it. It works great and I don't have to go around with admin credentials to run software updates. The only thing that I haven't been able to figure out is that while manually running it from terminal and from the app installed in Utilities, I am unable to get it to pop up and notify the user on its own. I have even set the days before next notification to 0 and nothing ever happens. I have left a computer setup and logged in for a full day and never receive a notification. Does anyone have any ideas on what is going on? Thanks for all the help.

Okay maybe this has been answered, but I don't see it. I want to make an updated netrestore image of our student macs. I have found out the hard way in the past that you can't make images from computers that have been updated with combo updates. I used to download the newest image from the mac app store and the make an image of the computer, but now that Lion is no longer available from the app store I am stuck running an image from February. Then I have to run system updates on the computers. If you have any ideas or a better workflow, I would love to hear it. Thanks for all the help!

When trying chmod 700 /System/Library/PreferencePanes/Trackpad.prefPane/Contents/Resources/moregestures.xml It disables the whole trackpad preferencePane not just the more gestures tab. Does that sound correct?

Okay. Nevermind. I ran into a typo in my original terminal command.

Okay, I ran into a problem that doesn't work for any of the solution mention (mine included). The gestures still work. I am not opposed to un-ticking the box in trackpad and disabling it in workgroup manager, but is there a terminal command that I can use to do it remotely. I don't want to have to touch all of our computers to get it done. I haven't been able to find one. Any thoughts?

Thanks for the info. I figured out a different route just now. I have mission control disabled in workgroup manager for the computer group. Then I sent a terminal command to all the client computers to turn off Mission control. That will take care of turning it off and then it is disabled in system preferences so they are unable to turn it back on. If they start learning terminal commands then I will go up a step further with what you suggested. Do you see and flaws that I may be overlooking in my plan of attack?

I want to be able to disable Mission Control for client computers. We are a school with a 1:1 computer setup and it is too easy for the kids to swipe their desktop away when a teacher walks by. Any thoughts?

Yea we just are not bound to AD here yet. District will likely switch in the next year or so and I didn't want to take the time to mess with it. I found a way around the issue. Put the mount in Workgroup Manager and then through terminal command put a keychain in keychain access. I can then deploy the script from ARD and everyone is happy. Thanks for all the information. Thanks @AntonioRocco. We are running a Lion server 10.7.4 currently. Our server is not bound to AD, but we have access to all SMB shares on the districts server. Now will ticking "Authenticate selected share point with user's login name and password" use the current logged in users password and username or the one I used to access the share when I put it in the login items? I had done all this before, but when the user logs in it prompts them for a username and password. This share for them has a common shared username and password (only data files for NWEA MAPS testing). Yes I have had a lot of issues with profile manager since Lion server, but currently when trying to enroll them in management, I get an error stating that there is something wrong or missing from the enrollment profile. I have reset Profile Manager back to default with no luck. I have given up on it at the moment. I would love to use it though. When it worked before it was great. All of our clients are on Lion so mixed environment is not an issue for us. Thanks for all your help.

Okay, I want to deploy an automount network share to all student client computers. They will not login individually, but share the same credentials. So I want to be able to copy a keychain login item to all the users on each mac. Our macs are used in a 1:1 setup so each computer only has one student account and an admin account on it. I think I have the automount figured out through Workgroup manager, but don't know how to place the saved credentials in each computer. I was going to copy a base login.keychain file between each client before the kids are given their macs, but don't know how to do that generally to all user accounts from ARD. Are there any suggestions? Better ways to do this? Thoughts?
