Interesting post. Although as a web developer and part time electrician, I noticed that you have forgotten to mention the importance of actually testing the equipment. There's no point networking everything if it isn't up to operational standard.

I totally agree. I've found that we have saved time using Metrel Alpha equipment generally. Previously we used a number of different brands - including various from Fluke. But in my opinion, if its simplicity you are looking for, then go with the Metrel Alpha PAT...although we did get a good deal through them which helped
