  1. I talk to lots of schools, colleges, hospitals, universities on a daily basis and hear the same thing day in, day out. That is that they all would like, and need, to have clearer visibility as to who, what, where and when things are changed within their Infrastructures but they can't afford an automated solution to do it. So many organisations are still taking a fire fighting approach to auditing.. i.e. they dig through native audit logs after something has happened, or just before they know an auditor is due. This is crazy in my opinion! Vendors need to revise their pricing if they are going to stand any chance of actually getting widespread adoption across these sectors. There is a clear need but if an automated auditing solution doesn't save money because it cost more than the time to do it manually it's never going to float. Really, genuinely, not meaning to launch into a sales pitch (hence me not banging on about the company I work for), but this is why we've reviewed our UK pricing. We saw big needs combined with small budgets so have adjusted our discount/pricing accordingly. We have also tried to really get back to basics here. Ultimately what do you really want to know.. you want to know WHO, WHAT, WHERE and WHEN a change is made, you need an alert and a report and you need really to audit Active Directory, Group Policy, File Servers and perhaps your Switches/Routers, SQL Servers or VMWare. That's about it. (feel free to download our freeware versions http://www.netwrix.co.uk ). I'd really appreciate any feedback or thoughts if peopple find this helpful.
