The new image is now up. It was a lot quicker than I thought. https://www.papercut.com/kb/Main/RaspberryPiReleaseStation NOTE: You know need an 8Gb SD card -- that's because I am now using a Windows Workstation instead of a Mac. Anyone know how to reduce image size on Windows? Any Model B that runs Raspian Buster should work. If you have problems on the Model B let me know (as long as plain Buster runs) I don't think the Model A or Pi Zero have enough I/O to work as a release station so your mileage may vary.

OK -- I managed to get myself some time and get it working The basic problem was that systemd setup has changed on the new versions of Raspian. I've just pushed a fix to the GitHub repo https://github.com/PaperCutSoftware/RaspberryPiReleaseStation/commit/efafc8cc4f239691d6af266b3555fad59d574ec8 I've tested it on a Pi4 and will be testing on a Pi3 in a couple of hours. I will then push a new image build to our website so that should be up by Monday. Cheers Alec

Should work fine on the Pi 3-B. I would bother rebuilding the image. Could be hardware. Did you try a different card? Are you using a HDMI display or the Pi touch screen?

Hello -- I am the person who developed the Raspberry Pi release station build script (disclosure, I work for PaperCut Software). Are you still having problems?

We now have a 15.3 image available. The PaperCut support peeps can sort you out.

Just email [email protected] and they will sort you out. However be aware that we currently have versions for PaperCut 16.x only. (there were a number of changes introduced for serverless printing)

G'Day from Australia, I'm the guy who created the new Raspberry Pi Release station image with help from my colleagues. More information from PaperCut KB | Run a PaperCut NG or MF Release Station from a Raspberry Pi To answer @Oaktech's question. We have been very nervous about providing support for the Pi as it's not a tier 1 platform for us. However after lots of requests from customers (and a bit of pushing from me) our support team agreed that making a pre-built image available would probably work. So that's now what we do, but I'm still building the images by hand each release. The May release of Raspian had me jumping through hoops this time because of the disk auto-resizing, but I hope to be pushing a new 16.1 image in the next couple of days. Once I get all the wrinkles sorted in the image creation we hopefully can automate the whole process and they will drop out the end of the build. However because we are shipping Raspian as well there are additional issues, so it's not straightforward. If you use my build then I've added the ability to configure the release station from a desktop workstation (config files are linked from /boot) which makes life easier. I've also provided a note on the above article on how to provide a custom image in the /boot partition. To return to the instructions from @CAWJames, you don't need to copy over the JVM because you need to run the ARM JVM supplied in Raspian. Make sure you install the correct JVM version as we upgraded to Java 8 a few months ago. I'm happy to answer more questions, so fire away. Cheers Alec

PaperCut MF does support a feature called fast release which can be used with printers that have have no user interface. It requires a network attached card reader to be associated with the printer. When a user swipes their card on the reader their jobs are released straight away. This works with find-me printing as well. It's a simple approach, but works well. If you have a PaperCut partner they should be able to assist you. If not email support and we can point you in right direction.
