Not a feature, it works fine for me....what I did recall is that I had Maintenance Windows set on all collections - when I rebuilt a PC I was building it within the Maintenance Window so no apps were ever installed. To that end, I created a Device Collection called 'Temporary Build Area' where I put computers I rebuild and set no Maintenance Window on this collection so apps can be installed at any time of day. Solved things for me - I remembered I did this on the way home from work this afternoon. There is no need nor reason nor design in SCCM 2012 to have to delete a computer from SCCM before rebuilding it.

No, not directly - it no longer happens, I can happily rebuild to the same name without a problem. I have got a few cumulative updates installed since, but nothing else.

Hi all, We've been using SCCM 2012 since July of this year. The only issue we have outstanding now is that rebuilding a computer (OS failure for example) to the same name doesn't pick up in SCCM 2012. We have tried deleting the computer from the AD and SCCM before a rebuild of the OS, but it still isn't getting picked up. We do a manual install of the SCCM client and Forefront yet it still doesn't install any allocated applications. AD GPO's etc. all work fine, it is just the SCCM apps/updates etc. that don't ever show up. Has anyone got any suggestions? Thanks, Chris

System Center Configuration Manager 2012 is a cracking bit of kit though a little faffy to setup - there are a good set of guides online though, and after a few weeks of playing with it I am impressed enough that it is now our likely replacement for CC3.

So if I would like to use Folder Redirection but also have loads of user work to migrate onto a new network, is this possible? Do I create the Home Folder and map this to e.g. N:\ and then create a 'Documents' folder in this that I can copy work into? I need to check the redirection options again as this might work.

Raise from the dead, however it is possible to add this to the registry section of a GPO applying to users, at least on the Vista User template GPO's, it works nicely thanks

I didn't want to use the Home Folder setting, I was hoping to use the folder redirection option instead, can they be used together? I assume I'd still need to set permissions individually on each home folder on the new system though?? Our new network would be new, the old one would be literally turned off then the new one brought into use, so permissions can't be copied between servers.

Hi all, We have a test vanilla network up and running with Win 2008 R2 Server/Win7 client. Folder redirection is working great, all the users we've tested can login and their redirected folders get created at first login in the correct share on the server. What I am wondering is if we can create these folders before the first login occurs? We are looking to migrate from an existing network and have all the existing user work to move. I don't fancy logging in as each user in order to create these folders with the correct permissions, though given the whole creator/owner settings, I suspect there may not be an 'easy' way of doing this?
