Just thought I'd provide some feedback on my earlier problems. After some studying of the (eg_xxxxx) template index.php code, I have managed to resolve all the errors I was seeing with my website. Regarding the undefined 'userX' fields, these were only referenced as tests in conditional statements and the website/template was only requiring the 'else' condition anyway - so with some careful editing I have managed to just leave it with the 'else' clause code (unconditional) and thus no more of those errors Regarding the unknown "$url" property, some searching through the joomla documentation led me to discover that this should actually be "$baseurl". Again, corrected the offending lines and no more errors. [bTW, Mike, although I started working with the 1.5.3 version, I have manually patched my joomla install to be up to date. Thanks anyway]

Hi, Have (on and off) been developing a J1.5 website for a school using the Edugeek install/template started by alonebfg (the SYSMK version arrived after I was well underway and I also preferred to use the original eg_xxxx templates). I have been demoing it and functionally it all works but on making it live, the error.log file on my hosted server seems to be filling up quite a bit (probably because website is now being probed by search engines and other 'bots') - So i have had to take it off-line again. The problem seems to be some missing items referred to in the template index.php. For most of these I guess I could resovle by removing the offending lines (references to user1, user8 & user9 - which do not actually appear to be used in the template). My 'starting point' for this project was the 1.5.3 release of the alonebfg version, but I notice here on this thread that the latest version zip was for a 1.5.5. release. Unfortunately, the link is no longer active and I understand alonebfg is probably not around much - so, has anyone got the most recent alonebfg install that I could have a copy of - incase the offending items have already been addressed? Alternatively, can some one shed some light on some of this particular error messages? : PHP Notice: Undefined property: JDocumentHTML::$url in <>/templates/eg_green/index.php Thanks

I have been using "WOS Portable" for my development/testing. WOS ("web on a stick") provides you with the (L)AMP environment on windows. Using the WOS Mixer, you can create your own setup (in addition to the base Apache/MySQL/PHP, I also chose the default Joomla package - there are many others available). You then unpack the built package in anyrequired directory (on your HD or on a memory stick) and run it (no "installation" per-se) NB: I chose the "SE" (small edition) versions of Mysql etc from the WOS Mixer in order to keep the package size down and they seem to work fine The WOS creates an Apache Server running on your local (windows) machine and you access your webiste through http://localhost/mysite etc From this setup, I have just placed the Edugeek package in appropriate .../www/ directory and install it 'as normal' - all works a treat. The great advantage of this setup I find are: 1) from a memory-stick, I can take the 'website' with me and show/demonstrate it on peopls own PC's 2) I can work offline (on my laptop) on developing/testing 3) if it all goes horribly wrong, just delete the files and start again No apache/unix knowledge is needed to get this up and running.

Yes, I've had a case of 'no user6 content' as well. On my local machine (where I am developing a site - not yet public), using the eg_xxxx templates, I can't seem to place anything in user6. I do remember in the past, when playing around, I removed or unpublished smooth gallery from this location to just see what a 'plainer' looking site would look like but I cannot now seem to re-establish this component to be displayed. Again, I too thought it must be something specific with smoothgallery but as an experiment I have just changed "Urgent News" from "Right" module (where it could be seen) to "User6" (where it does not appear). Changing it back to "Right" module and I can see it again. AFAIK, I've done everything I should be doing, but I too am a bit stumped about this - thought it was just me and something erroneous I must have done (perhaps I have?). For the time being I was ignoring the problem (like an ostrich;)) and was probably going to re-install the edugeek package again. If there is any advice/help out there on this problem, I would be interested to hear.

Doh! Thanks SYSMAN_MK - all seems quite logical now you point it out! I have been reading many threads here (in order to bring myself up to date) but must have missed that one. Now that I look in the template directory, I see that there is a jce_css.css file already there (just didn't realise this was what I needed to solve my problem - the only thing I think you need to 'add' is some notes in the installation user guide to point out the extra configuration setting needed)

Am in process of setting up a revised school website based upon Joomla and stumbled across the Edugeek package (great work) I am looking to use one of the 'edugeek' templates but when I invoke the JCE to edit an item, the edit boxes background is filled with a graduated colour (grey in this instance) and the text you type in is not easy to read. I have discovered some work-arounds: 1) In JCE config, select not to include template styles (this works and just gives me a white background to edit on - BUT I forefeit the use of styles e.g. the notice styles) 2) In the template CSS file, under 'body' definition, remove the background image definition (i.e. for page-bg.jpg). This gices me a white background in JCE edit box, and I can still have the styles, BUT the website background now loses its graduated 'backwash' What I would really like, is to have everything 'as it was intended' but have a non-coloured JCE edit box. Does anyone (SYSMAN_MK?) have any ideas/solutions or have the same experience? [NB: This problem does not exist in the Rokwebify template (not the same css structure) but that is not the template that I currently want to use]
