Morning all. We have just purchased our new 30TB San. Our plan is to connect our bare metal Hyper-V servers to the SAN and then setup Hyper-V high availability, which works really well. I have all the technical bits sorted out and know how to do the setup but I'm confused by one thing, LUNS? I've read you shouldn't have a LUN that is bigger than 2TB? Also what constitutes a LUN? Is it a disk partition where you store the iSCSI disk, or the iSCSI Disk itself? Id be curious to see how other schools setup the LUNS on their SAN, do you have one big area for storage of VMs, or lots of smaller storage areas. Cheers Gary

Hi Guys So, we have been investigating using SCCM DPM to run our backup schedule. At the moment Im backing up hyper-v vm's from the bare metal agent to a iSCSI storage server with deduplication enabled (Which claims its working). The system at the moment claims its transferring about 350 Gb a day over to the storage in incremental changes, however the amount of storage data used on the storage server is going up by 1TB a day ? Im a bit confused ! I am very new to DPM so its very possible I dont understand how its working ! We do one express backup a day (Which I understand to be incremental). Any assistance greatly appreciated !

But our school will be suggesting students access the service, meaning we would need to confirm they are GDPR compliant sadly.

Hi Guys We have had a request from our Maths department to use a product called Maths Coach, they appear to come from Sweden. Their website doesnt have any reference to GDPR, I emailed them for their compliance statement and they came back saying they complied with GDPR as they didnt store information about students. Is anyone else on the group allowing their students to access Maths Coach? Many thanks Gary Hockin

Afternoon everyone. One of the GDPR related projects have recently been tasked with is attempting to mitigate the risk of confidential data leaving the college via email. To this end Ive been using the Data Loss Prevention component built into both Exchange 2013 and Office 366. I have a rule setup in both which scans all email leaving college for a certain subset of confidential information such as national insurance number or Bank account details. We then receive a warning that the email has been sent. which is then followed up with the member of staff. We are looking to move toward a moderation system whereby instead of a warning we get an moderated approve / reject for the email and we can choose to release the email if the hit is a false positive. Is anyone else doing this / looking into doing this?

Hi Guys Well, we have an odd one here! We run Exchange2010 Hybrid with O365, all working ok on cloud, we are finding that mailboxes that get migrated from Cloud back to on premises dont display their calendar reminders either in outlook or owa2010. Mailboxes created directly on premises are fine. And if you migrate the mailbox back to cloud its then fine again !, The only fix we have at the moment is using MFCMapi to delete a folder called 'Reminders1' that gets created by Outlook then run Outlook with the /resetfolders switch (running Outlook without using MFCMAPI first doesn't fix the issue). One you have performed the MFCMAPI and the reset folders calendar reminders start working again for the user and are fine afterward. Has anyone experienced any issues with this. We are on the verge of a paid Microsoft ticket about this one, I dont really want to login to 100+ users when I need to on board them back to on premises and fix their mailboxes individually. The free Office365 support doesn't cover us as the issue is with on premises mailboxes only. TIA Gary

Evening all So after a very busy half term all our 2000 ish mailboxes have been migrated to Office 365 - hurrah ! All seems to be working, the only real issue bugging me (and our staff) is Outlook seems to be laggy - opening folders takes a couple of seconds or so and searches inside large folders make Outlook unresponsive. We have a 100/100 Bearer Leased line that isn't overloaded so in theory it should be fairly quick, but it just feels sluggish to me! I would be interested to learn how other people are getting on with 365 in a hybrid environment (with all mailboxes migrated to 365) and using Outlook 2010. I know its never going to be as quick as our on premises Exchange 2010 server but I was expecting slightly better performance! Cheers Gary Hockin

Thats great, thanks for all your help Nick. HAP functioning perfectly.

Thanks Nick thats got it. I would rather not use quota and would prefer to use drive space, what is the alternate value for usagemode="quota" in the hapconfig.xml
-
I have setup HAP with drives. %homedir% \\server2\student_shared
-
I have looked at the JSON reponse body tab and all it reports is []
-
The application log reports the following. An error occurred in Home Access Plus+ Page: HAP.Web.API.MyPic Creating Directory Search and Searching for then current user Using filter: (&(objectClass=user) (sAMAccountName=08DJG1234)) Found 1 results, processing 1st result Found 0 thumnbnailPhotos For more information, see Help and Support Center at

I think the hap debug.txt should include the JSON debugging you need. (its a dump from pressing f12 in Internet Explorer).

Hi Im having a slight issue with HAP (latest build) I have installed as per the PDF instructions and everything seems ok with the exception of Myfiles which is always blank. I have added two mapped drives in the config (one pointing to %homedir% and one pointing to our staff shared) however neither drive appears Debug log is below from ie attached I have also attached the log from the problem recorder. Many Thanks Gary Hockin Launceston College hap error.zip hap debug.txt

Hi Guys Has anyone had any experience with the Sage@School Program. Our school have signed up for it and as part of it you get a 360 day version of Sage Instant Accounts 2012. The software seems impossible to deploy via MSI, Puts files everywhere and other scary things !. I have phoned Sage tech support who informed me that manual installs were the only way to install the software. Before I go bash my head against a wall I was wondering if any else has met this software and how they are deploying it Many Thanks Gary Hockin
