Thanks - couldn't that to work either! Ended up figuring out that in mysql admin you can "restore" an SQL dump file as long as you ignore errors! Still, now getting this problem when browsing to index.php: Context ------- $_SERVER: Array ( [CommonProgramW6432] => C:\Program Files\Common Files [php_FCGI_MAX_REQUESTS] => 10000 [phpRC] => C:\Program Files (x86)\PHP\ [ALLUSERSPROFILE] => C:\ProgramData [APPDATA] => C:\Windows\system32\config\systemprofile\AppData\Roaming [APP_POOL_ID] => DefaultAppPool [CommonProgramFiles] => C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files [CommonProgramFiles(x86)] => C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files ...and lots more like this, until.. ) $_POST: Array ( ) $_GET: Array ( ) $_FILES: Array ( ) $_SESSION: {null} $_COOKIE: Array ( [users_resolution] => 1440x900 [fontSize] => 100 [ja_purity_tpl] => ja_purity ) Then a bit further down.. Uncaught fValidationException ----------------------------- {doc_root}\consumables\index.php(22): include_once('C:\inetpub\wwwr...') {doc_root}\consumables\inc\init.php(15): fSession::setPath('C:\inetpub\wwwr...') {doc_root}\consumables\inc\flourish\fSession.php(450): fDirectory->__construct('C:\inetpub\wwwr...') {doc_root}\consumables\inc\flourish\fDirectory.php(133) The directory specified, C:\inetpub\wwwroot\consumables/session, does not exist or is not readable Changes the db in init.php too. Is this php configuration that it isn't happy with?

Companies for installing smartboard/projector

Well after a few quotes and recommendations we went with Audioworks and are very happy. Neat, tidy and pleasant installers - can't ask for much better really -
What's the best way of importing the sql file without phpmyadmin? I have the mysql query and administrator installed though. Is there a command line? Google searching hasn't turned up anything useful..

Interesting project webman - very neat looking too. Will be giving this a whirl on Monday. I noticed at the bottom a "todo" of adding SNMP for printers - definately would be worthwhile. If this can also be used to track not only what consumables are available, but what are needed it's definately something that'll be worthwhile. Good work.

The newer high-end HP Mono lasers have numerical keypads on the actual printer which you can use to pin-protect documents. I recently installed a P3015dn in our staff room which comes with this functionality although noone as of yet has used it. Pin is set in the document properties when printing though (via the driver) so not really, really simple but still effective. No idea about using cards or fobs directly with printing though would be interesting if someone has been able to do this.

Got a Business Inkjet 2800 and installed brand new printheads, bought 2 years ago. Oh dear - they're "expired"! Now I know this is old news about HP ripping us off however I bought a job lot of these 2 years ago and can't afford to bin them because the "date" is too old. You can sort of understand that ink cartridges aren't as good as first new (still no excuse for expiry though) but printheads? Surely they should be fine.. I need to know how to take the battery out in this type of printer so bypass this expiry (as suggested in many places on the web). Anyone been inside one and could advise where we need to be looking?

We still have a Motorolla modem from when we first signed up to then-Blueyonder in the good ol' days. By the sounds of it, long may this modem last(!) though as a few others have said, have rarely had a problem with them ourself.

Companies for installing smartboard/projector

It's an Epson EMP-S3. We always replace with Epson projectors when we buy new ones. I think most modern projectors can zoom in/out as well as focus so i'd imagine any changes in the future could be accomodated by the ability to zoom as required. At least, where we have already replaced some projectors in some rooms, we haven't yet needed to remount where it is situated. Though thanks for raising that point - if the projector was old it may have been something we'd have overlooked still! -
That's insane. Surely, if you have a DVI monitor and a computer capable of outputting a DVI signal, you should be able to make use of both if you have a working DVI cable to join the two together! I wouldn't mind too much if it wasn't such a simple attempt to do something.. simple(!) FTR, the monitor is a 19" Suyama branded one (not exactly well known) but it does work fine nonetheless.
-
Refresh rate is set to 60Hz. Seems to suggest it's in single mode, and setting the 2nd output to primary makes no difference (reverts to 1st one again). As said, did a warm and cold reboot with just DVI cable plugged in - just nothing. I have seen the same on Dell machines where you need to reboot to pickup a newly connected DVI output and this I thought would work, but it didn't. Then again, these Dell machines had only a DVI output and use DVI>VGA adapters, whereas my office comp has both VGA and DVI outputs.

Acquired a monitor yesterday which has DVI and VGA inputs. Tried it at home with the DVI input and cable and it worked fine. Bring it into work to use on office machine (which up to this point used a VGA only monitor) and again plugged in the DVI input to the DVI port on computer - nothing. Tried another DVI cable - nothing. Use a VGA cable on this monitor - works fine. Tried changing the source on the monitor itself to DVI - says disconnected, reverts back to VGA. Reboot computer - no different. I know the DVI input on monitor works fine, I know the cable(s) works fine. Graphics is on-board the Intel motherboard with limited configurable options. Any ideas?

Companies for installing smartboard/projector

As we already have the equipment and limited funding remaining from the classroom refurbishment, we'd be looking to use the existing hardware (except of course for the boom). Had a bit of interest so hopefully something can be managed with the awkward roof setup! -

Thanks for the suggestions guys, unfortunately can't give thanks it seems though! -
Yep exactly the same here. Have called Westfield and they said alot of people have informed them about it (so it's a county wide issue).

Oh right, fantastic, never knew about that. Thanks!

We are looking to use Joomla for our website. I installed a test install on the local intranet server to get to grips with it but have ended up doing a fair bit of work on this installation and I wouldn't fancy having to start that again from scratch on a fresh install. Question is, is there a way to install Joomla on the main website and "transfer" all the contents and database content over to it? It doesn't sound simple and I have no idea if it's doable or if alot more needs to be done than just a quick "copy & paste" and "export and import". Any ideas?

Just had a classroom refurbished and they wish for the sb/proj installation to be refitted (different part of the room). Previously we used a boom for the projector as the roof is just suspended ceiling below what resembles corrugated iron. Now, they want it done properly from the ceiling and not on the boom, but we don't fancy it as there is no proper support on the ceiling (a few beams but not much) so will need doing professionally. Any recommendations for companies that'll do this? In the past we have bought several smartboards and projectors in one go and got the supplying company to organise installation.

Looking to do the same as well - bought a P3015dn and intend to use job holding functionality, though imagine more RAM would be better. The RAM above mentions the higher 4014/4015 model - is this compatible with the 3010/3015 series too?

I just have a printed list in the office with amount of each in stock, and when I use a cartridge reduce the number by 1. When I get to 0 I know there aren't any left. Keep it simple =)

This is a classic case of "put the delivery note in the filing cabinet and don't bother checking if there is another bit of paper attached to it, attached so closely that you wouldn't know it was there unless you really looked closely". I think that says it all really Doesn't help that I could really have done without a courier on this occasion though i'll just have to hope the guy who comes has some patience(!) Cheers chaps

I am probably being incredibly thick here but as i've never needed to this before i'm not sure how to go about it! HP sent a replacement HDD via DHL and included a returns label for the defective unit. How do I send this back? I notice on the DHL website about "servicepoints" and how many retail outlets act as a drop-off point. Obviously with royal mail parcels we'd use the post office. Without calling someone out from DHL, do the post office offer this service or would it have to be a servicepoint retailer? Failing that, is arranging a courier collection the best bet (not sure about it during school holidays though as opening times are a bit chaotic and in the past DHL collections arranged by a 3rd party result in the courier getting very tempered if someone isn't there to hand over the goods when they arrive!).

I sympathise with you (you've obviously dealt with a company/brand who couldn't give a toss about quality and customer service), but branding all compat/reman toners under the same umbrella is a real shame. There are some companies out there who work their backside off to produce a top quality remanufactured cartridge who get the same classification as the "drillers and fillers". The thing about compatible toners is that there is no uniform standard to how they have been produced. With an OEM I suppose you at least know they have been manufactured in the exact same way and have the exact same toner. With compats each company adopt their own approach - some are very good at what they do and can produce a cartridge at least just as good as an OEM, whilst other brands are just interested in refilling with no care for everything else that goes into ensuring a proper job. Like John above, our toners have come from Vicki @ TCSltd for some years now and we also got bitten badly by some very poor QC from office basics and unfortunately my faith in them has gone. What I don't do is say "oh well all compats much be rubbish" - just try another brand/company/supplier etc with an equally good if not better guarantee. We've never had to bin a printer before because of bad compat toner and i'd say the chance of that needing to happen is negligable (unless you have been bitten by a truely awful brand/company).

This is quite an open question. For instance lots of packages on our network are tied to licensed software and thus we couldn't copy them to use elsewhere. In the instance of free software (VLC media player, flash player etc) RM do something they call blueprints to make it easier, see here. I have known schools to share MSIs before though I don't know the legalities of doing that (seeing as Adobe require you to register in order to get their MSIs for example).

PCs too or just IWB/Projectors/Monitors? We have ~25 RM SFF desktops going spare, though not great spec (Celeron 2.4ghz, 256mb ram, 40GB HDD, XP COA). Been meaning to get them recycled for ages but just not got round to it yet. We still have a few CRTs dotted around and likewise are struggling to get shut with no funds to replace them.

Do you deal with BT Business through the school? We have an account manager who is always more than happy to help with my home dabs.com orders and queries (such as reduced pricing there too). If you want I could let you know his contact details (direct line)?
