my macbook pro shows up in the dhcp allocation, maybe they have worked out what range you use and set a manual address? in which case not sure what you can do other than monitor the network fully using mac addresses etc?

I have tried the soft phone route for demos in the past (also used one for a radio station caller interface) and in my experience with them they are often buggy and can cause a lot of unnecessary bandwidth issues. Saying that the 3cx version is pretty good. Stear clear of the cisco soft phone unless you have a dedicated ccm network however they do work ok using the asterisk sccp add-on. i was lucky with my last job we had 20 cisco 7960's donated to us. shame i didn't keep a couple...

pretty much all (citation needed) hdmi compatible cards support audio (by reality to use the hdmi name they probably need to do all of it) you just need to check that you have linked the card up to the spdif port on the mobo. spdif is the main source of digital audio for hdmi. some nvidia dvi output cards will also support full hdmi given the correct cable used(needs to be dvi-d - hdmi as pin specification are practically the same)

As far as i remember your only option will be to use the active system for 3D, passive projectors are not possible purely in the way they work, (passive uses 2 projectors side by side) so unless you have a lot of money (circa £15k) for the silver screen/2 projectors/ 3d controllers etc it sounds like a project that would be expensive if not out of reach for most.

Maybe a case of building a thin client for this display, you can pick up some pretty cheap micro pc's now, i got one for my home theatre setup for around £80 minus hdd and ram(already had these laying around)
