Good afternoon,
I am currently experiencing some trouble with multiple VLANs ans SSIDs with one VLAN losing its internet connection.
The Setup is there are two separate broadband connections, one for users, the other for guests. There is one set of UniFi APs which serve both connections and SSIDs. Neither VLAN should be able to talk to each other.
VLAN 1 is for the Users and is set-up as follows.
Router IP 192.168.1.1 Subnet 255.255.255.0
Router is attached to an unmanaged switch connecting the PCs, Printers etc
There is also a connection from this unmanaged switch to a managed TP-Link SG2008
The SG-2008 has 2 VLANs set up. VLAN 1 being the main connection and VLAN 20 being a secondary connection for guests.
VLAN 20 consists of just a router with IP 192.168.20.254 and subnet 255.255.255.0 connected to the managed switch and also a connection from the managed switch to the UniFi Controller.
The Managed Switch has connections as follows
Port 1 & 2 - UniFi Controller
Port 3 Guest Router
Port 4 Main Network
All remaining ports: APs
The UniFi Controller has 2 NICs
eth0
IP: 192.168.1.20
Subnet: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 192.168.1.1
eth1
IP: 192.168.20.20
Subnet: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 192.168.20.254
VLANs are configured as such:
VLAN ID: 1
Port 1: Untagged
Ports 2 & 3: Not Member
Port 4: Untagged
Ports 5-8: Untagged
VLAN ID: 20
Port 1: Not Member
Ports 2 & 3: Untagged
Port 4: Not member
Ports 5-8: Tagged
The guest SSID is set tagged as VLAN 20 in the unifi controller.
During the day the guest SSID works fine but often both the wired network on the unmanaged switch and the users SSID will loose connection to the internet even though the router is still connected to the internet. the only way to restore the connection is to power off the managed switch and reboot it.
