Is it going to work well if every classroom had one of them? as from what I see it seems to be designed mainly for home use and for one TV. What would be perfect is the whole school could be kitted out with this technology with one reciever in each room. Then hopefully we can have a random teacher come in to a classroom with there laptop, select a classroom reciever from a list (does the client software do this?) and then type in a password and voila. Looks interesting though what you have linked, if it could work well like this then it may well be worth buying a couple for trial. Thanks

Hey everybody :-) Our principle is currently very keen for all teachers to be able to display there laptop displays onto the whiteboard wirelessly. Do you have any ideas of how we may do this in a school, with 20 odd classrooms? It would need to be easy for different teacher laptops to access the same projector (on seperate occasions). Thanks for your help, I understand this may be quiet difficult to do. However our projectors do support HDMI which would be half the battle. We would be looking at using the Wifi in order to display from the laptop, so as to avoid any 3rd party hardware add-ons. Obviously as well any wireless broadcasting from the laptop would need to be a decent compression. Ideally as well this solution would support Windows/MAC OS and iPad. Personally I don't think it would work well, what experiences or knowledge do you have in this area? Regards Gary

Hello everybody, What do you think of the future of it technicians in school? Our school is replacing all pcs with unmanaged iPads for all staff and students minus the odd admin staff with special requirements. All whiteboards are to be torn out, and replaced with plasma screens and given apple tv instead. Our wireless is looked after on a support contract and absolutely everything will be on the cloud, either iCloud or Dropbox. A printer will exist but the school wants to go paperless completely in a few years. You could say that the it department may get progressively quieter over the next couple if years now that we have a massive iPad fanboy pulling the strings (he turned his nose up at ultrabooks and the fancy i5's desktops we have with SSD that boot up in 12 seconds) In your opinion is this dramatic change happening in a lot of schools? To me it seems like it is based on the regional apple conference we have just hosted. As a result I have to ask the question, are the days of the traditional school it technician numbered? And if so what are the options moving forward for your average techie? Do you believe business would pick up the slack? I am currently studying my MCITP but with all the end is night talk for the PC/laptop and the massive drive by apple to stick iPads in every student and staff members hands, I wonder if windows based stuff is doomed in schools (and even in some moderate sized business) and all that will be needed in a school is perhaps one person to turn the apple tvs off and on again or help someone download an app from iTunes....perhaps the odd pc will need fixing. Maybe someone will break an iPad again and we will have to walk it to the shop for them. Hey all; We have quiet a large Meru network installation in our school which we had placed in about 6 months ago. We run a MC3000 controller between 21 stations. My question is whether anyone has had a significant meru network which they felt was able to cope with a very large amount of mobile devices connected to it. We are talking up to 600 wireless devices spread across the access point; with the access points being one access point per two classrooms. Would you think in your experience that wireless at this usage level could cope? we are running N standard on one channel. Thank you

Hey all, We are currently looking into the options between buying iPads or Galaxy Tabs for our school. What are the educational pros and cons of each in your opinion? we find the iPads to be unflexible, for example the inability to plug in memory sticks into it. We also prefer the screen dimensions of the galaxy tab. However we need to have a balanced view of what would be best for students and staff. We will be extensively using Ericom AccessNow so that we can pull down a Windows 7 desktop onto the tablets (eventually Windows 8), as well as using them as tablets in their own right. We appreciate that the android market is not as developed as the iPad, would this be our own drawback over the iPad? Thanks!
