Hello, I am more or less in the same situation with similar hardware. I currently use HP VSAN StoreVirtual which is EOL and I have yet to find a suitable replacement. For the network I upgraded to 10G last year and used 2 x Dell S4112F-ON with a tandem tray which means you have 2 switch in 1 U and can benefit of redundancy as you have effectively two separate switches. I use fs.com for the SFP+ (10G) /QSFP (40G) and used DAC and fibre depending on compatibility requirements. I used the HP/VMWare supported SFP+ network card or fabric. All came under 5K total budget.

Hello, I am maybe jumping on an old-ish thread but what have you got as the HP Virtualstorage SAN solution exactly? We've got HP StoreVirtual (ex HP Virtual SAN, ext HP Lefthand P4000 VSAN ex whatever name they use a the time) , and provided they are setup properly they are bullet-proof. This is with VMWare 5.5, on 2 x DL380 using local storage + DAS, all local volume on RAID 5, and network RAID 0+1 for the logical volume + the FOM on a third VM Server. You will have to have both RAID 5 to go down to loose your volumes which is unlikely if you monitor them carefully. The down side of this setup is that you need 6 times the drive space (physical) than your actual usable space : that is the price of redundancy and resilience. Finally, I would never run a virtual SAN on only one host, this would make it lost all its interest. HP license is based on volume space if I am correct and you can have up to 3 hosts, unless this has change, they like to change name and licensing scheme on this product... Depending on when it was bought, you may have a perpetual license (not longer the case with new licenses) for a certain number of host and unlimited volume.

spadam> I just double checked the settings following your suggestion about "auto" mode (your never know, may have been missed): unfortunately there is no "auto" option, it's either Colour or B&W elsiegee40> Yes, that's what we do as well, always have the colour also doubled with a defaulted to B&W duplicate I am awaiting for a quote for a Kyocera P6030cdn from our regular supplier. The toner cost per page (with the theoretical values) is a bit more that 1p cheaper comparing to the other printers I considered and almost 2p cheaper than the Samsung it will replace (that is, if the Samsung worked properly). 2p does not sound a lot said like that but a 2p saving per page is a lot when you multiply by tens of thousandths of prints (actually that represents the cost of the Kyocera printer after 25K prints)

To keep you updated, we still have the same issue even after many hours spent with Samsung helpdesk and new tweaks, upgrades etc.. so I am now looking for a new colour laser printer. I am looking a estimated cost per page per toner and HP seems still quite expensive comparing to competition (~£130-150 for a 6K pages toner cartridge). The best ones are the ColorQube (although not the same technology) but reviews are mixed for the current models and initial costs for the device has to be considered as well in the overall running costs.

We've got this printer as a replacement from a another Samsung Color (CLX-6250) and we noticed a very high toner consumption that we did not have previously. The three colour toners have to be changed all at the same time and their usage percentage diminishes at the exact same rate whether we print mainly in B&W or not. We contacted Samsung, they did some firmware upgrade, changed one of the board, updated the driver but we still have issues and they seem to not really care and say this is normal behavior. They also told us that CMY toners are used to produce black: I quote "If the printer is printing mainly in black an white then yes the colours will be used equally. The reason being is that all colours combined with the black toner produce a true black." It seems very odd to me considering there is black toner as well (it looks like the old time of the Inkjet with only CMY cartridges available) and I really wonder what is "true black" and what kind of black produces a B&W only printer. Considering the cost of toner cartridges, if no solution is found, we will ditch this printer and say good by to Samsung printers, but before, we would like to know if some of you have experienced similar behavior whether with a Samsung printer or not?

Hi! I am looking for a new Internet provider for our backup xDSL connection. We have a fibre connection with Venus as our main Internet link. But we also have a Be Broadband Bonded ADSL link for our backup Internet connection. This link is also used to provide Internet for Students/Visitors in normal situation. Be Broadband has been acquired by Sky and future in uncertain regarding what kind of connection we will be eligible with Sky (we could not have fibre with them at the time we moved in). They are going to discontinue bonded lines and don't even have Annex M ADSL. We are located not far from the British Museum, London and I am looking to stay around the same cost (£65 pcm). We are looking for a good bandwidth (currently around 30M/3M) and not necessarily high level of service. Any recommendation? Regards, J.

Hi, Just saw this post looking for something help and thought I might suggest an alternative to Google Form in case you need "in house" solution (but this requires a database and web server such as XAMPP or equivalent) I've been using MachForm from AppNitro for quite a while now and I am pretty happy with it. We use if for any kind of form as well as for surveys.
