Yes the latest version of Ranger (8) supports Windows 8, Server 2012 and 32 & 64 bit

As an independant dealer we will always offer impartial advice based on the schools requirements and current system. I can understand the frustrations that existing Ranger customers have had in the past with lack of support and development from Ranger, we have expierenced that as well. But what I can say is that this has now changed, RM are putting resources in to developing Ranger and a new version 7.4 is due out by the end of term. This will add more functionality to Ranger and Windows 7, improved open and saved paths as well as ADMX support. To complement this they are also including with the next version 'Ranger Portico'. This will allow users to access their shared folders from home or anywhere else for that matter on your own device (BYOD), be it PC, Mac, iPad or mobile. Final field trials are currently underway for this.

Having installed nearly 50 Ranger systems over the last few years it's still very much a viable and cost effective solution to a large number of schools both Secondary and Primary. As for Ranger being killed off, that is definitely not the case, if anything there are more resources being put into Ranger and you can expect some new features and improvements coming out this side of the Summer holidays. Ranger if set up properly is still a very good product, speak to the people that use it and install it every day to find out what it can do and about the new add-on that is being included when 7.4 rolls out shortly.
