So, I got a regular serial, then, bought a modem serial cable, and now i have some text coming.. I log the serial port with putty, and I get text coming now.. I have it checking memery.. and then checking more memery, and then.. it does a line of *'s and.. well.. that's it.. what do i do then? I have never done serial stuff before, and I have no idea what to do, , can anyone help?

i tried looking in the dhcp, it's not claiming an i.p. there.

No such thing exists, I have already spent a long time looking for them

Can someone please point me to a thingy to sshow me how to do this? or explain to me what i need to do? I have tried hyper term, and putty, but other then openning them to a com port i have no idea what to do,, and that does nothing.

I bought a Netgear GSM7224 off ebay, and everything powers on fine, the light is green, and connect lights come on when a line is connected, but other then that nothing is working... can someone please tell me what to do? this is my first managed switch, I have tried resetting it. it doesn't bring up any i.p. when connected to a router.
