Hi all passed my security+ yesterday with a mark of 890.......am qualified Mcsa but very little experience apart from shadowing an administrator for 6 months.......I'm a mature person 51.......and looking for a job now......any ideas anyone....... thanks

Hi all, just passed the 291 yesterday with a mark of 873. It was the hardest one yet most questions on DNS and DHCP, forwarding etc......one simulation (which never worked)...........Only Security+ to go Thanks for all the advice I have read and recieved, the experts have been very patient with the newbies in here, and it doesnt go unnoticed Respect guys

Yea Guys thanks for the advice/info......Coming from my builder background where I've had to deal with newbies who think they are qualified builders after doing a years training at some government center....I am well aware that all the qualifications in the world don't matter a jot.......they look good on paper but lets be honest.......I'd start a person who had no qualifications but had plenty experience....any day....which is why I'm going down this road cheers

Hey there.....I'm an ex builder aged 50 who started messing around with the computer as a hobby 3 years ago. Since then I have gained my A+, CCNA, and at the moment I am at college doing MSCA having gained Network+, 70-270, and 290 which leaves 291 and Security+. I finish the course in July and I am based in East London..... I have shadowed an administrator for 6 months at one of the colleges and gained experience installing systems with a charity organisation. I am basically looking for a placement or volunteer work in the Server administritive area until July for a day or 2 a week can anyone help..... I have tried the usual organisations but the only IT they have is teaching basic ECDL to the elderly.....Can anyone give me an IT organisation who would be interested. Thanks a lot

srochford and CTBJS (in reply to the nodgelyobo question) thank you both for your frank answers, being employed in one industry ie. building, for most of my life, I have seen people come and go, thru' lack of experience, or chancing their arm, and this is what I didn't want to do, I therefore did six months placement, shadowing an administrator, and another 3 months working for a charity organisation repairing and assembling computers. The MCSA I feel will bring all these things together in a more constructive way. I don't know many people in the IT business, so your advice is well appreciated. Cheers nodgelyobo

Hi all, I am a 50 year old ex Plasterer who had accident 5 years ago preventing me from continuing my trade. About 3 years ago someone gave me an old PC and since then I have been to college and gained my A+, CCNA, and some other Web design courses....... I have never worked in the in the Computer industry before, apart from 6 months placement shadowing an administrator , I have now a chance of being accepted for an MCSA course, should I do it, or are my chances of getting employment slim because of my age, after completing the course, I am very keen and have turned into a bit of a geek (according to my daughter) Cheers
