  1. Yes they are becoming more and more of a good alternative to projectors and boards. Firstly we have had a few demo's of dual lcd touch screens and those built for education have fantastic resistant screens, have literally smacked them and their toughness is impressive. While the prices are high, the life expectancy of them is making them a long term viable option. You can get various sizes up to the size of most IWB's so that isn't an issue and there are ones that tilt to lay flat so groups of kids can gather around and interact with it as a group. Personally we believe for a fair number of schools this will be the future, due to the features it offers and the life expectancy of a unit. I would say they are a great option for primary schools but a risky option for secondary. I have just been told that Sahara are currently pushing Dual LCD'S and Demo'ing them to their primary customers, and looking at their product range they are investing in this on quite a large scale.
  2. When the SMART Board is connected to your computer, the Orientation data is saved to the registry or the Firmware of the SMART Board, depending on the type of Orientation. You would need to delete the data stored for this on the computer and try reorienting the SMART Board. This will ensure this is not a software issue. Please open the registry editor by clicking start then RUN and type in regedit then click ok Once the registry editor is open navigate to this location HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SMART Technologies Inc.\SMART Board Software, once there delete any key entries that have the word Board #, this will erase any settings associated with the specific board that is plugged into your computer To delete the registration data from the firmware of the SMART Board you can use a pen from the pen tray to reset the controller by pressing the blue button on the side of your board. This is for Smartboards but the regedit might be something you want to check on the starboard. Sounds most likely option if orientation doesnt save.
  3. Thanks for the replies guys. The board is not bent or damaged in any way, its definately not the control module on the back, nor is it the pens in the trays. Nothing to do with usb extenders and it has the latest firmware and drivers. I will be trying the reset button and ive found the steps i need to take to delete the registry entries so ill be trying this next week. Thanks for the tips ill keep this thread updated for when/if i fix the issue.
  4. Hey we have a smartboard which is off by about 2 inches when using it, but it is only occurring in the middle of the board, using the bottom or top it is fine but the centre is almost unusable. Is this something that can be fixed? (relatively easily and cheaply) or is it time for a new board? Thanks in advance.
  5. As a technician we have recently had a number of call outs to Sanyo xm100 projectors which do not power on either via remote or the device itself. Its been an easy fix by just turning the mains off for a minute and switching it back on then its all back to working order. But just wondered if anyone else has had these problems and could possibly explain the reason behind this occurrence?
  6. I dont know if this is any help but when others add appointments to my calender they appear as a different colour. To change it back edit the entries in question and there should be a drop down box to change colour/priority.
  7. Morning. We tend to use Sahara screens. There worth a look at anyway Mike
