Sorry, I'm not often on here and didnt see the update. The team consists of a Director of IT, Network Manager, Senior Technician and Junior Technician. There is also a communications manager attached who oversees SIMS, SLG and Exchange etc. There are 2 domains - Admin and Currciulum. Admin is vanilla and Curriculum is currently RM. Around 400 clients although this needs to expand. Although the role says there will be a lot of travelling, it should be shared between the senior techs so the amount is negotiable. For example, if the candidate is better suited for assisting with the infrastructure, then they will stay at the main site more. If they decide to move away from RM (and they might well after the profit warnings!) then there is plenty of scope in contributing to the development in terms of domain building, scripted installs and imaging. I know they're looking at KACE for example alongside VMware for servers and some sort of virtualisation for desktops to better support their primary schools. Hey all, a friend of mine works at this school and told me about the new role. They're expanding the team as they are looking at moving their older network onto new things! They're currently RM with 2 domains. They're thinking about going to a single domain, possibly going vanilla and entertaining the idea of buying into a SAN with virtualisation. Plenty of opportunity to get your hands dirty! They also support a growing number of primary schools and are thinking of using VPNs and VDIs to remotely manage those schools.
