  9. hello all, a little back ground, i am currently in school for my BS in network security, i have an HP priliant DL385 G1 that i am using to practice on. i have an HP Proliant DL385 G1 that has dual gigabit NICs i use one to connect to my normal network and the other to service my kids network. the NIC that is connected to the network that provides internet access is acting like its shutting down; its not allowing icmp traffic or http traffic (or any type of traffic that i can tell) but yet its still saying that its connected to the network in the network and sharing center. i am forced to have to restart the machine and then it will work fine for about 24hours or so i have a statically assigned IP address to each NIC. i have the "WAN" (NIC connected to internet side) NIC IP address reserved on the linksys E4200 router. the MTU on the router is set to auto. can any one please help me with this. thank you Eric
