We have SCCM 2012R2 installed around our campus and I've been asked to pull reports for computer usage. I believe they want to know which computers are being used on a daily basis. Is this something that can be pulled from SCCM? Thanks!

I'm liking option #2, but I've never looked into the giant ax that is software restrictions. Is it possible to precisely define that any software trying to run from C:\Users\%username% will not run, but everything else from (which is preloaded from me) will run okay?

Students are only domain users and are not local administrators of the machines. I do not currently have software restrictions turned on. Users have been able to download firefox and then when installing click cancel on the UAC prompt and then the software installs to the profile folder on the machine. How do I disable all profile folder installs? It's driving me insane that they are able to install stuff, yet they aren't a local admin.

I thought I should reply back that I got some of the items in the start menu fixed. I'm going to try to image and clean the start menu to see if it holds through a sysprep. FWIW, I had this policy set by accident which took accessories and a bunch of normal items out of the start menu. Setting it to not configured fixed that portion of my problems. User Configuration-->Policies-->Administrative Templates-->Start Menu and Taskbar-->Remove user's folders from the Start Menu That setting was set to enable and as soon as I set it to disable or not configured our users start menu now had the 'Accessories', 'Maintenance', 'Startup', and other icons at the root of the start menu that were missing such as IE.

So I've found items live in: C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu If I modify this during my image prep will it hold through the sysprep process?

I've made a Windows 7 image with copy profile in sysprep, but for some annoying reason the start menu that is used for first time login includes Remote Desktop Connection and other items that I really don't want students to be accessing. I can disallow the use with software restrictions but how do I customize the start menu like I did in XP days and have it hold via default user? ( I understand that these types of items don't get held for all users during the copy profile stage in sysprep) Thanks!
