That's how I have to do it if I can't raise the person. They might be doing important stuff in there. What I want is just to change the name with no side-effects that can get people shouty and red-faced.

I keep coming across the problem that Windows will not let me rename a folder if someone else happens to have left an explorer or DOS window in that folder. Given that we have developers and servers in widely different time-zones then this is a real pain. It could obviously have been designed out of Windows by treating the folder's display name as a mere property - but that would require Windows to be designed for multi-user use instead of having it bolted on. Now, does anyone know how I can do this without having to find out who is in there and getting them to leave? It just has to be possible but my limits stop me.
