Hi Guys, I'm upgrading some systems at work, currently they have two physical servers; 1x Core 2 Quad Q8400 2.66GHz, 8GB RAM, 1TB HDD [Terminal Server SRV2003] 1x Core 2 Quad Q8400 2.66GHz, 8GB RAM, 1TB HDD [Domain Controller SRV2003] They've ordered two new ones as it works out cheaper to order them to my house and me set it up here, than for me to spend days down there. (I plan to upgrade the RAM.) These new servers will be running Server 2008 R2. 1x AM3 X6 CORE 2.80GHz, 4GB RAM, 1TB HDD 1x AM3 X6 CORE 2.80GHz, 4GB RAM, 1TB HDD I just wonder if I should use virtualization for the terminal server, and the domain controller/active directory, as that way if theres a problem and I reboot say the Terminal Server, and it doesn't start I can just login to the node server itself and fix any problems? Right now if it goes down I have no way of rebooting it remotely or fixing any problems as both of the main OS's run directly on the physical server. What would you guys do?

Hi Guys, I have a busy family household at home, and I want to use a home server, but also use it for a firewall so I can block ports and stuff. I bought a small HP server and a 2nd network adapter how could I make this into a firewall server? It will be running Server 2008 R2 Enterprise.

Does anyone know how to remove the System Tools that can be found in "Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools" I've googled for hours looking for the solution but cant. Does anyone know how to disable this via GPO? Thanks
-
Speaking of Chromes ADMX files I could never get them to work Should I apply them to the computers or users?
-
Ah all removeable devices are blocked as the network runs on thin clients anyway so no CD drive ... I guess they could download using IE but they have no admin rights would have to be portable versions.
-
Hmm I plan to let these people use Chrome or IE there choice, filtering is done at OpenDNS level.

Hello, I've just switched internet providers and the new one has assigned me 4 static ip addresses, can anyone tell me the subnet mask to use for them? 96.25.99.224 - I intend to use this for the router. 96.25.99.225 - Server #1 96.25.99.226 - Server #2 96.25.99.227 - Server #3 These subnet masks are confusing as hell :\

Hi guys, Ive tried applying these policies but they just dont seem to apply, has anyone got a tutorial? I created a Group Policy for Terminal Server OU, and go to "Computer Configuration -> Policies -> Google -> Google Chrome" and configure it there but nothing gets applied.
-
Its a default group, on the main AD server its in \Bulletin\ I created a new group and made it a "Security" group and selected "Staff" - And it appears to work? Should I be doing this?
-
Yes group is selected, if I type the user itself like "jsmith" it finds it no problem, but it cant seem to find groups, not even administrator group, or staff group.

Hello, I have two servers 2008 RC - Running Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Domain Controller. 2008 RC - Running Remote Desktop Services @ Joined to Domain. But I want to allow users who are apart of the "Remote Desktop Users" group access to log on via Remote Desktop onto the terminal server, but unfortunatly when I go to add users (Via System -> Remote) it says An object named "Remote Desktop Users" cannot be found. Check the selected object types and location for accuacy and ensure that you typed the object name correctly, or remove this object from the selection. From this location: Acne.local Can anyone help me?

Hello Guys, I'm running two servers, Windows Server 2008 RC (MainServer) Windows Server 2008 RC (TerminalServer) On the Terminal Server if I remotely log in as user JohnSmith on the MainServer domain, I'm unable to browse the folder shares on MainServer if I type \\MainServer\FolderName I get this error "Accessing the resource '\\MainServer\Folder' has been disallowed" But if I create a "New Shortcut" to \\MainServer then I can browse everything fine, does anyone know what the issue is?

Hello Guys, Would this setup work, with 15 employees using Thin Clients. 1. Server 2008 SBS - Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Data, Shared Drives. 1. Windows 7 Ultimate - The machine that the WYSE clients connect to? (With Programs Installed) Would Windows 7 work, or should I simply use another Server 2008 Setup?

It's mostly digital images of a VERY high megapixel rate, hence the high storage space required, this is mostly for archiving but it will be accessed a few times every week for an image.

Hello EduGeeks, One of my clients needs to be able to store about 20TB of data, he's currently got a cupboard load of external hard drives hence the reason I want to move them all onto one server and have it network accessible, what would be the best solution to achieve this? Should I use RAID5? with 2TB Disks x 11?
