I've got a query for those of you using SIMS Behaviour Management; How do you handle students who miss detentions, we're currently making the transition to using the detentions feature in SIMS and our feedback so far is that when a student doesn't appear for their detention, they are marked as "Not Attended" and if it's only one student it's a simple case of opening their link and clicking "attend future session". The problem comes when a number of students, for example 14, don't attend a detention, is there a way to assign them to a future detention in bulk? Or am I going to have the break the bad news to my co-workers that they need to do this by hand?

I've had a look at deploying Chrome in the past even with the ADM's there's still too much freedom to access options menu because there's no way to disable the wrench menu. As soon as Google get an option in to disable the wrench I'll probably test deploy it and see how it goes.

Sorry to double and necro post but I thought I'd post my eventual solution to this problem: Because Sims dislikes roaming profiles and I didn't like the idea of creating a local admin account for our SIMS data manager to use, I elected for another solution. Now, rather than printing the reports he exports them all as xml documents to folders in his area. He then drags the folder onto a vbs script I wrote which sends them to our massive industrial printer in our Reprographics area next-door, so not only can he now print the pesky troublesome reports, he also prints them at a massively increased rate.

Indeed, when I used to work for National Government the password policy there was three groups of three characters creating a rhyme. eg: fox-tuv-dov easy to remember, fairly secure and they generated them automatically on a three month cycle. I still use a similar system but I prefer to add more characters but maintain the idea of rhyming three similar words to reduce forgetfulness, if only I could find a way of replicating the password generation script I'd probably implement this across the school.

We're going to try and run him as a local administrator as soon as we get a chance (unfortunately we can only test/troubleshoot when he's running the reports). We're exclusively W7 now but if we have no luck with a local admin account I'll build an XP machine and test on that.

Okay, here's a few more bits of information and some details on what I've tried so far. We're running SIMS version 7.138 Build 24, I have deleted the temporary folders mentioned by @vikpaw (mysimsdocs &tempsimsrpt). I've set up a local printer and attempted to print the reports to that but still no joy. The reports it has issues with are Individual Reports, if I click view I can see all of the reports in Word so it's clearly not having any problems actually generating them, it does however seem to be something to do with the SIMS -> Printer process. I'm going to attempt running as a local user rather than an admin this afternoon and see what joy if any that brings.

Before I begin with this problem description, I'll start with a caveat that I'm new to SIMS as a whole. So, here we go: We're having issues with one of our staff running reports through SIMS, essentially any time he selects/generates and prints a report it will work the first time through, but if he attempts to perform the same action (with a separate group of students) SIMS simply drops off the task after clicking "Print". Winword.exe hangs about in task manager and will stay there until it's killed. It doesn't appear to hang and I've searched high and low to see if it's leaving any temporary files about that might be causing an I/O error but there's nothing that I can see. I've spent some time searching for any SIMS related temporary files I've found a lot of XML files relating to the students filtered for the reports, I've attempted to delete these and rerun the Generate/Print action but the same issue persists, the status bar appears and SIMS begins going through the motions of printing the report then it falls over mysteriously and the only solution we have at the moment is to restart/relog the user's machine. I'm sorry if this is all a bit vague but as I said, I'm new to all this SIMS malarkey and this is my first foray into trying to fix this issue, I've had a good search about the forum here but I'm still none the wiser. Windows 7 32-Bit Professional and Office 2010 32-Bit
