Where do you (as stated above) do you get your MS licensing from,they want shooting It is for our ICT Development Group in the first instance, but for all staff more generally. They find it difficult to understand why data storage is so expensive when they can pick up a 4Gb USB stick for a few quid. It’s an awareness raising exercise to help all staff become more aware of the costs of storage, as a precursor to asking them to accept ‘capped’ storage limits and manage their user areas a little more efficiently. Our data has grown at 18% on average during the preceding four years, but is increasing incrementally year on year. We’re intending placing caps on the size of user areas which should help us to plan a little better for future demands. The current solution is expected to last 5 years, but will be reviewed annually. You’re dead right about budgeting over a time period ... if we need to assign figures for elec. costs and personnel costs, then they only become meaningful when taken over a time period. The licensing (and other figures) are only my boss’s guestimate – our parent organisation provide all these resources and we never get to find out individual costing. So if you’ve any idea what the likely cost of an MS server license is likely to be for our school, given those figures (and with around 450 clients), that would be really helpful.

We’re trying to get an estimate of the cost of storage for each of our users, but don’t have the precise figures for our hard/software. We’re a cross-phase school of 1000 students and around 100 staff. Our file server performs only that job, nothing else. Hi Benjie, Not 100% what you mean, but had a look at keymgr.dll and there was no reference to the proxy server. Think I'm just going to stick with the one machine that's working. Thanks for your help.

Hi benjie thanks for the reply. we have the proxy settings configured via Group Policy and these are correct. the issue is one laptop asks for credentials for the proxy and works, the other just tries without asking for credentials and fails. thanks again

Hi, I have two identical laptops both set up with iTunes, one laptop works the other doesn't. On the one that works when I click on iTunes and connect to the iTunes store I am asked for username and password for the proxy server. On the laptop that doesn't work, iTunes try to connect but never asks for proxy details. From the info I have found on the web it says, iTunes gets it's settings from internet explorer. But I can't find which setting I need to change. Any ideas?

Hi I have a suite of PC's that all connect to the same WSUS server and get the correct updates. The problem I'm getting is when a pc boots it registers itself but then is replaced by the next PC to boot, so I just end up with the last PC to boot showing up in WSUS. I have checked the GPO's, SID's and permissions but can't get it sorted. Has anyone any ideas?? Thanks

Hi, I apologise now if this has been asked in previous posts. Occasionally we get students calling to our office with their own personal laptops asking if we can remove a virus or just fix them. How do you deal with this, do you fix them or do you explain that you can't work on their personal laptops. In the near future we hope to move to open access where students can use their own laptops in school. If you already provide this facility are you expected to fix any issues they have with their personal machines. Thanks in Advance
