Looking at it from a slightly differing angle, but where is the hub/switch in relation to the socket? If the existing cable runs across a false ceiling there may well be enough "spare" cable hidden to allow you to simply move the socket yourself without any need of disconnection But just to re-iterate what ChrisH said, get yourself some tools anyway - there will ALWAYS be changes to rooms without any consideration to existing points (or is that just my school )

Is this an HP/Compaq machine by chance? I had a similar issue once when I used nlite - got it all working by physically copying the file into the i386 folder This may be what you need to do on the RIS server - copy the file into the existing XP image folder first

snuffkins I had this exact problem when I started with RIS. What it eventually boiled down to, is that there is a intel pro driver SPECIFICALLY for RIS I cant provide any details at the moment but search on the Intel site for RIS / Pro 100 etc Any probs get back to me - i've got the drivers somewhere......

Strangely I had installed SP1 a while back, but it hadnt overwritten the previous BINLSVC.dll file - thanks for the file Geoff (this is the same version that gets installed with SP1) Have tested it on a "blank" XP SP2 image and it seems ok at the mo

Hi All Apologies if this is in the wrong forum. I've been using RIS for a while quite happily but having just had some new IBMs delivered i'm having issues. Basically (i think) it all boils down to the Intel Pro 1000 NICs installed - having read various articles on M$ / Intel / IBM there seems to be an issue between the card and the M$ parser when dealing with RIS requests I'm looking for a recently released dll (BINLSVC.dll) which sounds like it will alleviate the problem. However M$ have not made it freely available and may well charge me the for priviledge of contacting them. I'm pretty sure they wouldnt charge me, but they initially request credit card details, of which i dont possess any!!
