The other option is to use the Feb 06 CD (Pretty sure it's that one) and upgrade, it doesn't take that long seeing as the DB is empty.

We had a problem where once we migrated to 2005 the backup path changed to some random, non-existant place. This worked for me (although we're still keeping a close eye on it). You can change it in the registry, if you go to HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server\*DB name*\setup You can change the SQL Path there to the correct one and Sims seems to pick it up from there. This is not definitely the right way, just the only way I could find (without reinstalling).
