Thanks for this tip, saved a lot of time!

This is a brilliant step in the right direction. On server 2008 and windows 7 here it has successfully got rid of the link to the libraries. However, the default path in the save as path bar is still libraries\documents and when clicking the down arrow to display the usual there is nothing else there. Has anyone got round this? Has anyone also been able to deploy a default save and open path too? For example to a mapped drive, G: in our case.
