  1. Depends if your image has office pre-installed or whether you deploy afterwards. If it's pre-installed with a MAK key, then it will need to be activated (but VAMT can be used to mass-activate machines which is nice.)
  2. VAMT is a tool for managing KMS, it's easy that way. Product Activation Using Volume Activation Management Tool 2.0 just don't get the kms-server and kms-client keys mixed up, that can be painful (experience speaking!) It's great because Office deploys with a kms client key by default so you don't need to enter anything there, just set up your kms server and activation takes care of itself. KMS products automatically re-activate with your server every week, and if they can't contact it give themselves 180 days before complaining about it. VAMT will also let you manage MAK keys and remotely apply them. I hope that makes sense.
  3. No problem. Our approach was a bit belt-and-braces but thankfully the teacher who had to arrange the exam and the invigilators were all happy to pitch in and click a few buttons/type a few passwords. As an interesting aside: Our invigilator mentioned that another school didn't have to do the computer part since they didn't pass diagnostics (hmmm!).
  4. We ran ours the other day, it works in exactly the same way, PISAmenu.exe. Click the test (or exam, or something) button and it runs the same old basic check before opening the exam proper (the diagnostics options are also available) It runs a full-screen portable firefox with a javascript-based test. You may be prompted to allow apache through the firewall but I don't think it actually dials out anywhere. Our invigilators weren't very well versed in running it but they did have documentation with them, they'll have a master password that you have to enter to show the student ID/password screen which is where it should be ready for the students. All in all went pretty smoothly, just weird how it's so 'do this,' without any proper explanation.
  5. Hmph, so it seems like "Error 1000" is the installer's way of saying "Install successful!" Because it's installed on all the machines... :/
  6. Hi All, Getting an exit code failure of '1000' (which has no meaning!) from installing eLicenser silently. my install script is as follows: @echo off REM Install certificate for licensing control certutil -addstore "TrustedPublisher" "%~dp0CubaseLicenseControl.cer" REM Install Licensing Control "%~dp0eLicenserControlSetup.exe /s" It works when running the batch file manually as a logged on user with correct permissions, but running it as an SCCM advertisement with system permissions fails. Has anyone else had any success deploying the licenser? Our copy of Cubase Studio 4 deploys flawlessly, but can't be used because this is missing! (rage building) Cheers
  7. No idea, but here's how I managed to get it working in our environment (warning- gore) Security group containing the PCs to be used for testing GPO filtered by that group that adds a local administrator account Local account to be used only in test situation (we will log in to it beforehand) and PCs to probably be rebuilt afterwards. It's ridiculous, just to run a full-screened portable Firefox with some rubbishy quiz software built in (check the USB stick... Apache server?!) Only upside is that the local administrator won't get proxy settings so no anonymous internet access. Nobody knows which room has been booked for this exam (we have our date now) so I didn't even test it on the right machines. What is the point?
  8. Thanks for that, I realise that I was getting confused between 7zip (which I use) and the option being hidden because the New submenu is hidden. Phew!
  9. I may be misremembering, but I thought there were options in the root of the context menu. Now that I read your post I realise I might be insane and that it's just missing from SendTo... It looks like I need to copy the shortcuts from the Default user profile into the roaming profile of the logging on user to make them available. Sometimes it takes a desperate forum post to kick the brain in to gear :-)
  10. Ok, so we've inadvertently disabled the Compressed Folders options from the context menu for all users (including us!). The worst part about it is we don't have any GPOs or registry settings (that we can find) that should be removing/hiding these options. Where can we look to start troubleshooting this? The only guides I've found to disabling it in the first place are full of registry key changes and DLL deletions- not the sort of change that can be made accidentally. Cheers
  11. Limiting Exchange 2010 DatabaseCache | EighTwOne (821) and to get out of the console being slow, install it on your workstation instead, from Exchange's install media.
  12. Actually still battling this... Even with a special security group allowing local admin rights, students still can't run it. It's come at the worst time with a huge summer project and the resulting battering we've had at the beginning of term. Everything about it is suspect, especially running their antivirus on our PCs. The manual is quick to stress that it is a Windows issue for needing administrative rights, but I wonder what exactly the exam client needs to do that requires these sort of rights.
  13. Thanks for that, much appreciated.
  14. Thanks for that, I should have taken a picture of the file :-) See attached.
  15. Hi Nick, Thanks for the speedy response, I've made the change above and the individual files look better now but the table as a whole seems squashed to the left. Cheers
  16. Hi Nick, A staff member asked about view details in My Files today, first time we'd looked at it and it looks a bit weird to us. Is this something we can resolve? We've tested in IE 8 and 9, Chrome isn't as tall but the columns are squashed on top of each other still. The original query was whether you can sort files by date modified, which doesn't seem to be the case. Thanks for your hard work.
  17. Thanks muchly Nick, V8 is a thing of beauty.
  18. Thanks for the suggestion, it's not working here unfortunately. I recycled the app pool, stopped and started the app pool and IISRESET for good measure and nothing seems to be doing the trick. IIS is a tricky beast
  19. Hi Nick, Attempting to upgrade to V8 (clean install) and have followed instructions. The site runs but does not seem to resolve (404) any of the assets in style\ or images\ folders. Where am I going wrong? It installed fine with V7 previously on the same server. Edit: I should say that the files match the contents of the downloaded zip file from hap.codeplex.com
  20. Our premises manager is trying to use ehadocs.cornwall.gov.uk as directed by county, but I can't get it to load documents through our internet connection. It seems to use Brava! javascript document reader but it appears that some part of the client is being filtered or possibly blocked by the firewall. When loading a document to view, the message "Brava! Client loading..." is displayed and the document never loads. County, of course, had the helpful advice of 'it works at our end' when I tried to ask them if I needed anything in particular unblocked. Has anyone else encountered this tool and are there any URLs or ports that we need to unblock? Cheers
  21. I definitely had that impression, ran in 'classic' look for so long.
  22. That's a good point, I don't use either of those features so I haven't tried that.
  23. Their license also covers PCs not connected to the smart board for teachers to use for creating resources etc but specifically forbids using smart notebook etc with another manufacturer's interactive white board.
  24. Thanks Nick, Much appreciated. I've also tried the same with the server's firewall disabled, but since it is a member of the domain I wouldn't forsee it being an issue. Edit: When the credentials are incorrect the error dialog is being displayed and the console reflects that correctly.
  25. For reference, the POST variables are all correct.
